Students bring Bibles to school to support teacher

Posted in The scurge of PC on April 19th, 2008 by gatordoug

Apparently the teacher refuses to hide his Bible from students. Frankly, why should he? There is still a First Ammendment isn’t there? I say great job and kudos to these kids

A school superintendent says some students at the district’s middle school brought Bibles to classes to show support for a teacher who refuses to remove his Bible from the view of students.

Mount Vernon Superintendent Stephen Short says Friday’s action hasn’t caused any major disruption.

Teacher John Freshwater says forcing him to keep his Bible out of sight infringes on his rights

LA Times bombshell! ANYTHING and EVERYTHING negative you say about Obama is racist!!!

Go to Hot Air for the info.

[W]hen his opponents branded him an elitist and an outsider, his race made it easier to drive a wedge between him and the white, rural voters he has courted. As an African American, he was supposedly looking down from a place he didn’t belong and looking in from a distance he could not cross. This could not happen as dramatically were it not for embedded racial attitudes. “Elitist” is another word for “arrogant,” which is another word for “uppity,” that old calumny applied to blacks who stood up for themselves…

Furthermore, casting Obama as “out of touch” plays harmoniously with the traditional notion of blacks as “others” at the edge of the mainstream, separate from the whole.

Allah Pundit takes the pinhead who vomitted this garbage up to task, all I can add is FREAKIN’ HIPPIES!

TAG! Kids game OUT at school

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 15th, 2008 by gatordoug

Oh no, here we go yet again! Another case of schools protecting children from being normal children!

Robyn Hooker, principal of Kent Gardens Elementary School, has told students they may no longer play tag during recess after determining that the game of chasing, dodging and yelling “You’re it!” had gotten out of hand. Hooker explained to parents in a letter this month that tag had become a game “of intense aggression.”The principal said that her goal is to keep students safe and that she hopes to restore tag (as well as touch football, also now on hold) after teachers and administrators review recess policies. The decision has touched off a debate among parents. Some call the restriction an example of overzealous rulemaking that fails to address root problems and undermines children’s development; others say it’s best to err on the side of caution.“We are regulating the fun out of normal childhood activity,” said Jan van Tol, father of a Kent Gardens sixth-grader. “In our effort to be so overprotective, we are not letting children be children.”

Oh Lord, how did millions of children who were lucky enough to miss the hypersensitivity bandwagon and PC EVER survive? I mean we played tag, tackle football, sandlot baseball a game called smear the you know what, and cowboys and Indians, and rode bikes without helmets, and yet we manage to function.

CAIR coming to the defense of Muslim school?

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 15th, 2008 by gatordoug

Remember the Minnesota tax-funded Muslim school? Well, it seems that the victicrats at CAIR are screaming hate crimes just as the school is being investigated by the state. I, like Michelle Malkin have to question the timing of this.

The Minnesota chapter of a national Islamic civil liberties group has asked the FBI and local law enforcement officers to investigate reported threats against a Twin Cities charter school as possible hate crimes, while a Jewish organization deplored the threats.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) made the request Monday after the director of Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy in Inver Grove Heights told police that he and the school had received threatening and harassing phone messages and e-mails.

The group is concerned about the safety of the school’s students, many of whom are Muslim, said CAIR chapter coordinator Chris Schumacher. Tagging the threats as possible hate crimes also makes it clear that prejudice could have prompted them, and “we wanted to bring that to light in case that wasn’t already obvious to people,” he said.

Surely if threats have been made, they ought to be investigated. The trouble is that CAIR, and other have, shall we say, a history of crying wolf. Power Line and Daniel Pipes and Michelle Malkin have all documented.

Beer-The new cash cow?

Posted in Taxes, The scurge of PC on April 12th, 2008 by gatordoug

I said long ago that after the greedy government types were through milking the cigs cash cow they would seek another. Well my fellow beer drinkers….

Joe Six-pack will have to pay a lot more to get his buzz on if Assemblyman Jim Beall has his way.

The San Jose Democrat on Thursday proposed raising the beer tax by $1.80 per six-pack, or 30 cents per can or bottle. The current tax is 2 cents per can. That’s an increase of about 1,500 percent.

Beall said the tax would generate $2 billion a year to fund health care services, crime prevention and programs to prevent underage drinking and addiction.

“The people who use alcohol should pay for part of the cost to society, just like we’ve accepted that concept with tobacco,” Beall said.

Behold the natural progression of the dreaded disease that is Marxism.

GOOD GRIEF! Do these people actually even believe their own BS? Of course not! Their intent is to A) smear anyone who dares to disagree with their Leftist ideology, and B) in the case of the race baiter Olbermann is interviewing, to embitter Blacks and make sure racism is seen as alive so they can get DONATIONS! I guess it beats making an honest living.

I wonder if Mr. Sensitivity recalls THIS?

Where is the ACLU when you need them?

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 9th, 2008 by gatordoug

Of, if a public school even remotely approaches mentioning anything that can be construed as Christian, then ACLU lawyers swarm in like locusts. But a Muslim public school in Minnesota? Not So Much!

TIZA has many characteristics that suggest a religious school. It shares the headquarters building of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, whose mission is “establishing Islam in Minnesota.” The building also houses a mosque. TIZA’s executive director, Asad Zaman, is a Muslim imam, or religious leader, and its sponsor is an organization called Islamic Relief.

Students pray daily, the cafeteria serves halal food - permissible under Islamic law — and “Islamic Studies” is offered at the end of the school day.

Hmmm, sounds fishy to me. Read on

Zaman maintains that TIZA is not a religious school. He declined, however, to allow me to visit the school to see for myself, “due to the hectic schedule for statewide testing.” But after I e-mailed him that the Minnesota Department of Education had told me that testing would not begin for several weeks, Zaman did not respond — even to urgent calls and e-mails seeking comment before my first column on TIZA.

Now, however, an eyewitness has stepped forward. Amanda Getz of Bloomington is a substitute teacher. She worked as a substitute in two fifth-grade classrooms at TIZA on Friday, March 14. Her experience suggests that school-sponsored religious activity plays an integral role at TIZA.

Arriving on a Friday, the Muslim holy day, she says she was told that the day’s schedule included a “school assembly” in the gym after lunch.

Before the assembly, she says she was told, her duties would include taking her fifth-grade students to the bathroom, four at a time, to perform “their ritual washing.”

Afterward, Getz said, “teachers led the kids into the gym, where a man dressed in white with a white cap, who had been at the school all day,” was preparing to lead prayer. Beside him, another man “was prostrating himself in prayer on a carpet as the students entered.”

“The prayer I saw was not voluntary,” Getz said. “The kids were corralled by adults and required to go to the assembly where prayer occurred.”

Again, where is the ACLU? Probably busy making sure a graduation ceremony features no child thanking Jesus.

Canadian bloggers being sued for expressing opinions

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty, The scurge of PC on April 9th, 2008 by gatordoug

Michelle Malkin has the details. And a Canadoan blogger who is one of those being sued tells her story.

Richard “The Boy Named Sue” Warman has finally filed his statement of claim.

Canada’s busiest litigant, serial “human rights” complainant and — the guy Mark Steyn has called “Canada’s most sensitive man” — Richard Warman is now suing his most vocal critics — including me.

The suit names:

Ezra Levant (famous for his stirring YouTube video of his confrontation with the Canadian Human Rights tribunal after he published the “Mohammed Cartoons”)
FreeDominion.ca (Canada’s answer to FreeRepublic.com)
• Kate McMillan of SmallDeadAnimals.com
Jonathan Kay of the National Post daily newspaper and its in-house blog
• and me, Kathy Shaidle of FiveFeetOfFury.com

Richard Warman used to work for the notorious Human Rights Commission, which runs the “kangaroo courts” who’ve charged Mark Steyn with “flagrant Islamophobia.”

Richard Warman has brought almost half these cases single-handledly, getting websites he doesn’t like shut down, and making tens of thousands of tax free dollars in “compensation” out of web site owners who can’t afford to fight back or don’t even realize they can.

The province of British Columbia had to pass a special law to stop Richard Warman from suing libraries because they carried books he didn’t approve of.

Richard Warman also wants to ban international websites he doesn’t like from being seen by Canadians.

The folks named in his new law suit are the very bloggers who have been most outspoken in their criticism of Warman’s methods…

…We can only fight this man’s attempt to silence conservative opinion if we have international support: both moral and financial.

This lawsuit will cost me at least $30,000 to fight.

And fight it I will.

This will continue, and, one day arrive here in America. The Left is no friend of free speech, unless they approve of it!

Make NO mistake my friends our free speech IS under attack!

It is official! Smokers are now the worst people on earth!

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 8th, 2008 by gatordoug

Case in point!

But then in October, she got a letter from her neighbors. It said, “Dear Resident, immediately cease smoking in your apartment, unless and until you take adequate steps to properly ventilate your smoke out of your apartment such that none enters the common hallway.”

Huff couldn’t believe it. First she can’t smoke in her own restaurant, now she can’t smoke in her own apartment?

The complainants — Jonathan and Jenny Selbin — wouldn’t agree to a television interview, but they did file a lawsuit against Huff, saying she is “willfully, intentionally, recklessly and/or negligently endangering the health of plaintiffs and their 4-year-old son. … As evidenced by her refusal to address the grave danger posed to the health of a small child, despite repeated requests and warnings, defendant’s conduct is actuated by evil and/or reprehensible motives.”

Ah, smell the fanaticsm!

Teen sues Universityof Texas over racial preferences

Posted in Race Pimping, The scurge of PC on April 8th, 2008 by gatordoug

Ah, good old affirmative action at work here. People on the left do not like to admit the truth. Any use of race in college admissions is inherently racist.

An 18-year-old Sugar Land student sued the University of Texas at Austin on Monday, challenging the school’s use of racial preferences in its admissions policy.

Abigail Noel Fisher, a senior at Stephen F. Austin High School in Sugar Land, was named in the lawsuit filed on her behalf by the Project on Fair Representation.

Project director Edward Blum, an activist against race preferences in Houston before he moved to Washington, D.C., said Fisher, who is white, will graduate in the top 12 percent of her class next month but learned in late March that she was not accepted at UT-Austin.

The lawsuit doesn’t challenge the top 10 percent law, which guarantees admission to those who finish in the top 10 percent of a Texas high school’s graduating class. Instead, it contends that UT-Austin unlawfully uses racial and ethnic criteria to select other students.

Target store fires guard for stopping shoplifter

Political correctness strikes again

Dean Babcock spent almost 30 years as a cop in Delavan, so he’s seen the aftermath of drunken-driving accidents. Knows, too, how much trouble underage kids can get into and how much pain they can cause after getting their hands on a bottle of rum or tequila.

Plus, he’s a dad.

He was also a so-called protection specialist (a fancy name for a security guard, he says) at the Target store in Lake Geneva until getting fired for doing what any concerned adult would do.

Stopping, he says, a 16-year-old girl from taking a bottle of booze.

“They fired me for stopping a 16-year-old girl from stealing alcohol,” he said Sunday.

Climate change alarmists brainwashing our kids?

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 7th, 2008 by gatordoug

Gorezilla and his minions are less than honest? NO!

William Gray, the well-known Colorado State University hurricane forecaster, routinely uses the annual National Hurricane Conference as a platform to bash global warming. In a statement to Florida Today, Gray argued that the scientific consensus on global warming is bogus — and “a mild form of McCarthyism has developed toward those scientists who do not agree” that mankind is in danger.

“We are also brainwashing our children on the warming topic. We have no better example than Al Gore’s alarmists and inaccurate movie which is being shown in our schools and being hawked by warming activists with little or no meteorological-climate background,” Gray wrote.

Some scientists believe global warming will actually decrease — not increase — the number of hurricanes that form over the Atlantic Ocean each year. Last Friday, in the final session of the hurricane conference, a pair of climate experts said rising sea-surface temperatures in and near the Caribbean could strengthen vertical wind shear. Robust wind shear is the bane of hurricanes, as it tends to tear apart cyclones during their formative stages.

The Left, lacking in facts, has made a habit of indoctrination and brainwashing.

Six-year-old charged with sexual harassment

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 6th, 2008 by gatordoug

More politically correct zero-tolerance abuse of children

Randy Castro, 7, who likes recess and soccer, now has an alarming red flag in his school records. It started on the playground with a first grade classmate.

“I saw another kid like hitting her butt so I did it,” Castro said.

His Potomac View Elementary School then called the police and wrote him up as a sexual harasser. Woodbridge, Md. school officials described the incident as “Sexual Touching Against Student, Offensive,” in their report.

The basic problem with zero-tolerance is this, It is applied without an ounce of common sense!

This was a very simple thing, the teacher should have pulled the child aside, and explained why this was not acceptable behavior. No law enforcement, no charges, none of that was needed at all.

Of course this is a growing trend that amounts to child abuse. This insanity cannot be tolerated by parents.

According to the state’s Department of Education, 166 elementary students were suspended in Maryland last year for sexual harassment, including three preschoolers, 16 kindergartners and 22 first-graders.

In Virginia, 255 elementary students were suspended for offensive sexual touching last year as well.

Two years ago in Texas, a four-year-old was punished for sexual harassment after a teacher’s aide accused the pre-schooler of pressing his face into her breasts during a hug.

Punishing kids for being kids? God help us!

Un: Global temperatures to decrease for 10th straight year.

Posted in The scurge of PC on April 4th, 2008 by gatordoug

Hey! Wait a minute here! Gorezilla tells us the earth is heating up, and headed to certain doom. So how can that be true if the earth is in a decade long cooling cycle?

Average global temperatures in 2008 are forecast to be lower than in previous years, thanks to the cooling effect of the ocean current in the Pacific, U.N. meteorologists say.

The World Meteorological Organisation’s secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, said it was likely that La Nina, an abnormal cooling of sea surface temperatures in the Pacific Ocean, would continue into the summer.

If the forecast holds true, global temperatures will not have risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.

I assume Gorezilla will deny the accuracy of this, I guess to him, the UN is now a bunch of flat-earthers

EU + Kyoto = madness!

Posted in The scurge of PC on April 2nd, 2008 by gatordoug

Germany wants compensation, in the form of  lower emmissions reduction targets, for phasing out its nuclear plants.

This type of thing is why America should NEVER, EVER, sign on to Kyoto, or anything like it!

German Finance Minister Michael Glos wants the European Union to allow Germany to emit more greenhouse gases in exchange for decommissioning its nuclear power plants.

Glos, a member of the conservative Christian Social Union, outlined his argument in a letter to Germany Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel, who belongs to the center-left Social Democratic Party. In the letter, which was obtained by the German business daily Handelsblatt, Glos urges Gabriel to press the issue before the European Commission.

“Allowances for added emissions as a result of the nuclear phaseout need to be factored into the EU’s broader Emissions Trading Scheme,” writes Glos, according to Handelsblatt.

So, Germany, in the spirit of Kyoto, wants to get off a cleaner energy, and move to a dirtier form?

The Handelsblatt reports that replacing energy generated by nuclear plants with power from dirtier sources, like the coal-fired plants that produce 80 percent of power in Germany, could raise emissions by 150 million tons of carbon dioxide a year.

Like I said, madness! Based on questionable science at that!

Indonesia to YouTube: Pull Fitna video or else!

Posted in The scurge of PC, War on Terror on April 2nd, 2008 by gatordoug

What’s this? More threats of censorship of an “anti-Islam” film? At least Indonesia is not calling for the head of the film maker.

The government of the world’s most populous Islamic state says YouTube has two days to take down a Dutch lawmaker’s provocative film on the Koran or it will block access to the popular video-sharing Web site.
The warning by Indonesia came as the U.N.’s primary human rights watchdog ended a month-long session amid allegations by Western member-states and non-governmental organizations that Islamic nations are working to curtail free speech.
Geert Wilder’s 16-minute film linking Islam’s revered text with terrorism has sparked protests in a number of countries. It also drew criticism from the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the European Union.
In Indonesia, a former Dutch colony, Information Minister Mohammad Nuh told a press briefing in Jakarta Tuesday he had sent a letter to YouTube demanding the film, “Fitna,” be removed. If it did not comply, he said, the government in cooperation with Internet service providers would block the site.

Video-Lou Dobbs on talking about race in America

Posted in Race Pimping, The scurge of PC on March 31st, 2008 by gatordoug

Sadly, most of the discussion on this clip is focusing on, whether or not Dobbs was going to say “cotton-picking” or not! Another example of our depth-less society!

The focus SHOULD be on his comments, which, were, PERFECT! He makes a point I have made repeatedly in my columns. Most of us could not care less about race. America is easily the most racially diverse nation on earth, as Dobbs says several times here.

His comments about how we think we have to discuss race are proven true by the despicable reaction to his comments. Now watch and hear the truth!

Offendeditis strikes in North Dakota!

Liberal line of the day! “We’re trying to find out the right approaches for accountability, but at the same time try to heal wounds that have occurred and allow the campus to move ahead,”

North Dakota State University is investigating complaints about a campus skit in which a white student in blackface portrayed Barack Obama receiving a lap dance.

The same skit, part of a charity fundraiser held at a campus theater, also featured a depiction of cowboys having sex with each other, witnesses told The Forum newspaper, which first reported the backlash Friday.

Typical, everyone is so easily offended! Here is what REALLY got the bed-wetting Lefties upset!

People who attended it said a pageant contestant from Saddle and Sirloin dressed as a woman from the Internet video “I Got a Crush on Obama” and performed a strip tease for another student, who was wearing dark makeup and an afro wig.

Amazing what gets the Left upset isn’t it?

Hey you! The Left is watching you!

Posted in The scurge of PC on March 30th, 2008 by gatordoug

If indeed Leftists ARE watching me, to see if I participated in Earth Hour then I am sure they can see what finger I am holding up!

I just had a last minute thought re tonight’s Earth Hour event.

Between 8 and 9 tonight, I’ll be doing what I usually do at that time:I’ll be out with my wife walking our two dogs 5km around our small town.

Tonight, however, I’ll be looking at my neighbours’ windows to see which ones are participating in Earth Hour. I’ll be noting those houses and when the election campaign comes, I’ll be knocking on those doors. I’ll be armed with the knowledge that these are environmentally aware and concerned people and they are prime targets for a GPC campaign. I may knock on some of those doors even before an election

…if you’re out for a walk tonight while your lights are out, take note of who else has their lights out.

Earth Hour? How about Moron Hour? Useless Waste of Time Hour?

Posted in The scurge of PC on March 30th, 2008 by gatordoug

Funny, the Left thinks turning out our lkights will somehow save us all? Well, it makes sense I suppose, seeing as how the Left has been in the dark for years!

From the Sydney Opera House to Rome’s Colosseum to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, floodlit icons of civilization went dark Saturday for Earth Hour, a worldwide campaign to highlight the threat of climate change.

The environmental group WWF urged governments, businesses and households to turn back to candle power for at least 60 minutes starting at 8 p.m. wherever they were.

The campaign began last year in Australia, and traveled this year from the South Pacific to Europe to North America in cadence with the setting of the sun.
