Thank God! Green Bombs!!!!!

Posted in News you can use on May 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

Mother Earth and Gorezilla are smiling!

New explosives could be more powerful and safer to handle than TNT and other conventional explosives and would also be more environmentally friendly. TNT, RDX and other explosives commonly used in military and industrial applications often generate toxic gases upon detonation that pollute the environment. Moreover, the explosives themselves are toxic and can find their way into the environment due to incomplete detonation and as unexploded ordnance. They are also extremely dangerous to handle, as they are highly sensitive to physical shock, such as hard impacts and electric sparks. To make safer, more environmentally friendly explosives, scientists in Germany turned to a recently explored class of materials called tetrazoles. These derive most of their explosive energy from nitrogen instead of carbon as TNT and others do.

Divers survive night in shark-infested waters

Posted in News you can use on May 25th, 2008 by gatordoug

Absolutely terrifying!

A rescue helicopter spotted the man, aged 38, and woman, 40, drifting some eight miles northwest of Bait Reef, winched them aboard and flew them to a nearby resort island.

Police said the divers, who were not immediately named, survived because they had remained calm while floating in the ocean overnight, and were lucky to be alive.

“If I was them I’d be getting out the 30 million dollar lotto ticket tonight … they were very lucky people,” rescue helicopter spokesman Philip Dowler said.

Video-Yep! He is flying!

Man ticketed for wearing Speedo

Posted in News you can use on May 13th, 2008 by gatordoug

Really now, is a Speedo EVER a good idea?

Bob Hezzelwood said he has been visiting Bonita Beach for years and no one has bothered or complained about his bathing suit.

However, recently, a Lee County sheriff’s deputy gave Hezzelwood a ticket for trespass and told him not to return to the beach. A judge tossed out the case.

However, Hezzelwood said he plans to sue the sheriff’s department, saying his civil rights were violated.

But how many other’s rights were violated by seeing an old guy in a Speedo?

Your WTF?? Post of the day. 90-year-old woman dies on toilet, stays there for two months.

Posted in News you can use on May 13th, 2008 by gatordoug

Freaks!

The discovery of the decaying corpse of a 90-year-old woman in a Necedah house led to criminal charges Friday and an account of a “religious community” praying that she be brought back to life.

The corpse had been on a toilet for more than two months, according to a criminal complaint filed in Juneau County.

A man and woman instructed her two children to pray for a miracle that would bring life back to the corpse, according to the complaint.

Tammy D. Lewis, 35, who calls herself “Sister Mary Bernadette,” and 57-year-old Alan A. Bushey, known as “Bishop John Peter Bushey,” each were charged with two counts of causing mental harm to a child, party to a crime, in connection with the death of Magdeline Alvina Middlesworth.

What the Hell is wrong with some people?

San Franyoga?

Posted in News you can use on May 11th, 2008 by gatordoug

What wiil those kooky Leftists think up next? You, like me, might be afraid to even ask, considering they just came up with this nugget of inanity

Paris turns the banks of the Seine into a palm tree-studded, sandy-beach hangout in the summertime, and Bogota, Colombia, bans cars from its busy thoroughfares once a week and gives free aerobics classes in the streets. So why can’t a think-outside-the-box city like San Francisco occasionally close its main drag and offer tai chi sessions along the waterfront and let people jog wherever they please?

That’s the question Mayor Gavin Newsom is asking as he and his staff float a plan to close a 3 1/2-mile stretch of roadway - from the Bayview neighborhood on the eastern edge of the city to Chinatown, including half the length of the Embarcadero - allowing dance troupes to literally dance in the streets, cyclists to ride freely without worrying about cars, and yogis to lay down their mats in the shadow of the Bay Bridge.

“Instead of bringing people to open space,” Newsom said, “we bring open space to people.”

What could go wrong?

When pelicans attack

Posted in News you can use on May 11th, 2008 by gatordoug

Man, that had to hurt

A swimmer is recovering after a pelican apparently diving for fish slammed into her face off Florida.

Debbie Shoemaker of Toledo, Ohio, was in the water Thursday near St. Petersburg when the pelican’s beak opened a gash in her face. She needed 20 stitches. The bird died.

The chief of the St. Petersburg Fire Department says he never heard of a diving pelican colliding with anyone.

I caught a pelican with a fishing lure once. It dove right after it as I cast it. Luckily it did not get hooked.

Denver man wants city to prepare for aliens

Posted in News you can use on May 5th, 2008 by gatordoug

No, not illegal aliens, the little green kind

Jeff Peckman is back at it, and this time he is bringing little green men along for the ride. The Denver man, who sponsored an offbeat ballot initiative that would have required the city to implement stress-reduction techniques, now wants to ask voters to create a commission to deal with space aliens.“It is important because if you’re driving down the highway and you saw a crash of a small spaceship and a car or a bus full of kids, you really wouldn’t know what to do,” Peckman said. “Do you wait for the hazardous materials experts to show up because of potential contaminants from another solar system? What do you do? People really don’t know.”

Peckman, 54, who is single and lives with his parents, has submitted to the city a draft of the proposed ordinance, which would require the creation of an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission.

Wow! I was driving home today thinking about what to do IF a freaking UFO crashed in the interstate, or in my yard?

I have a great idea, just send Rev. Wright to talk with them. They will leave and never return here after a few minutes with that nutjob.

Your obligatory WTF? post of the day!

Posted in News you can use on April 29th, 2008 by gatordoug

People living with a skeleton? A new stupid reality show? No, just a a freaky story from Dallas.

The skeletal remains of a 93-year-old woman may have remained on a couch in her living room for months while other people continued living in the house, authorities said.

Neighbors reported seeing cars come and go from the home as recently as this week before police, doing a welfare check at the request of a neighbor, found a body inside Monday.

“What is a little bizarre is it appears that someone was living there with her for some time,” Dallas police Sgt. Gene Reyes told The Dallas Morning News.

The remains of a dog also were found in another room. Investigators suspect the human remains belong to the elderly woman who lived there, but DNA testing may be needed to confirm the identity.

This move has to be

U.S. Congressional candidate Tony Zirkle is facing criticism from one of his primary opponents, and a host of people on the Internet, for speaking at an event over the weekend that celebrated Adolf Hitler’s birthday.
Zirkle confirmed to The News-Dispatch on Monday he spoke Sunday in Chicago at a meeting of the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party, whose symbol is a swastika.
When asked if he was a Nazi or sympathized with Nazis or white supremacists, Zirkle replied he didn’t know enough about the group to either favor it or oppose it.
“This is just a great opportunity for me to witness,” he said, referring to his message and his Christian belief.

To witness your political suicide maybe. What a boob!

Stroller blows into Lake Michigan, toddler in critical condition

Posted in News you can use on April 19th, 2008 by gatordoug

An amazing story. File this under anything can happen anytime

A gust of wind blew a 2-year-old in a stroller into Lake Michigan, where the boy remained submerged for at least 15 minutes before being pulled out unconscious but alive. The child’s grandfather, who had been pushing the stroller on the lakeside Friday afternoon, jumped into the harbor to try to save the boy, the Chicago Fire Department said.Witnesses said the frantic grandfather struggled in the frigid water, just off a 70-foot long pier, pointing a few feet away and shouting, “Child! Child!”

“He was just moaning in the breakwater, crying,” said John Derscheid, who called 911 Say some prayers for that kid please

When Pythons attack!

Posted in News you can use on April 19th, 2008 by gatordoug

Large, predators are always large predators, and you cannot blame them for doing what nature designed them to do

A pet store owner is calling a police sergeant a hero for saving her from the coils of a 12-foot Burmese python doing its best to turn her into a meal.Teresa Rossiter had reached into a cage Thursday to show the huge snake to a customer when it bit her right hand and coiled around her left arm to throw her to the floor.

A friend who happened to be at the store kept the snake off her neck and body while police were called. And when Sgt. Ryan Nelson rushed into the store, he was ready to kill the snake with his knife.

But Rossiter asked him to spare the expensive python, so Nelson put on gloves and pried open the snake’s mouth to free Rossiter’s hand.

Hurling a hedgehog at a teenager has landed a New Zealand man a date in court, a report said.

William Singalargh picked up the animal and threw it about five metres (15 feet) at a 15-year-old in the eastern North Island town of Whakatane in February, the Herald on Sunday reported.

“It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks,” said Senior Sergeant Bruce Jenkins, of the Whakatane police.

“He was arrested shortly afterwards for assault with a weapon, namely the hedgehog.”

OK! The “disaster-proof” home!

Posted in News you can use on March 30th, 2008 by gatordoug

Disaster-proof? Unsinkable? Famous last words all! Still, BEHOLD!!

While no place is immune from violent weather, David South lives in what he believes is the safest community of dwellings in Texas. He says his five-bedroom home and every small domed rental house along Dome Park Lane are built to withstand the force and fury of tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes.

“These things will take rifle fire,” South said of the igloolike structures, not that anyone has shot at him.

South is a 69-year-old resident of this small town south of Waxahachie and the global-thinking head of Monolithic Constructors Inc.

These are a few miles south of my home. And, they are, less than attractive.
