Oh Big Brother! Mandatory breathalysers for French bar patrons?

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on May 13th, 2008 by gatordoug

Viva La Stupidity!

Breathalyser tests for people leaving bars and cafes across France could be mandatory from this summer under a plan to be put Monday before President Nicolas Sarkozy’s cabinet, Ecology Minister Jean-Louis Borloo said Sunday. The move — revealed by Borloo on France 2 television — follows a particularly deadly Pentacostal holiday weekend on French roads, with at least 17 fatalities in seven accidents reported, some of them alcohol-related.

“I can tell you that tomorrow, at the council of ministers, Health Minister Roselyne Bachelot and I will present a decree to make electronic breathalyser tests obligatory in drinking establishments open until 2:00 am, so that everyone can check their level, their condition upon leaving,” he said.

“I hope that by this summer, it will be obligatory in all such places,” he said, adding that the idea has already been trialled at 350 cafes and bars in the west of France.

Another stupid ideal based not on common sense or in the ideal that people are free, but in Marxist nanny-statism!.

Man loses job for defending coworker from attack

Unfreakingbelievable!

A local gas station employee is out of a job after he thought he was helping save someone’s life.Mark Beverly was one of two employees inside a Roseville Super America when a robber came into the store on March 26.
Beverly was cleaning the bathroom when he heard the store clerk cry out. He came out to find a robber attacking the female employee.
“I just jumped on his back and trying to hit his head and pushed him over the counter. I jumped back over and he was out of there,” he said.
Later that day, Beverly returned to work only to be punished for his actions.
“I didn’t think I was going to get fired for it,” he told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
Super America issued a statement, saying that ‘employees are never to take action that could endanger themselves or others. It’s regrettable this happened.’

Regrettable? What do the asses running this dog and pony show regret? Firing someone who HELPED a woman being attacked? They would have preferred he watch this woman be beaten? Gutless, spineless weasels! Ah, the wimpification of America continues. Do not fight back, do not defend yourself, or others, never touch a weapon, these are the very real messages that Americans of all ages are being indoctrinated with!

Scumbag robs teen having seizure

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 24th, 2008 by gatordoug

Damn! This happened in downtown Dallas, late Tuesday night. THIS type of thing is why we need VERY harsh penalties for unwarranted violent assaults.

Dallas police said a man robbed a teenager who was suffering a seizure.

Frank White, 33, took a wallet from 18-year-old Mississippi State University ROTC student Andrew Bow.

The incident happened at a downtown Greyhound bus station just before midnight on Tuesday, investigators said.

Surveillance video, which captured the robbery, shows a man approaching Bow, who was wearing desert fatigues and flailing on the sidewalk. The man then pulls a wallet from the Bow’s back pocket.

Hot Air has the video. Warning this will make you want to take a large stick to this scumbag’s head.

ABC blames US Constitution for Mexican drug cartel violence!

Posted in Border INsecurity!, Guns self-defense and liberty on April 22nd, 2008 by gatordoug

Damn that James Madison

U.S. gun stores and gun shows are the source of more than 90 percent of the weapons being used by Mexico’s ruthless drug cartels, according to U.S. and Mexican law enforcement officials.

“It’s a war going on in Mexico, and these types of firearms are the weapons of war for them,” said Bill Newell, the special agent in charge of the Phoenix field division of the ATF, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which has primary law enforcement jurisdiction for investigating gun trafficking to Mexico.

“It’s virtually impossible to buy a firearm in Mexico as a private citizen, so this country is where they come,” said Newell.

But U.S. efforts to stop the smuggling of tens of thousands of guns to Mexico, including high-powered assault weapons, have been hampered by lenient American gun laws and the Bush administration’s failure to give priority to anti-gun smuggling efforts, officials tell ABC News for a report Tuesday on ABC News’ “World News With Charles Gibson.”

So the drug cartels are not responsible? It is all AMERICA’S fault again? Like when those who cross our borders die it is AMERICA’S fault!

How about this? How about we blame the CRIMINALS! Funny these problems with cartels do not happen here like in Mexico. Hmmm Can you say INEPT police? Corruption? OH, one quick question, IF Mexico is so concerned why do they not help secure the border? Hmmm? Maybe because of $$$$$$$$$$?

Obama supports gun control

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 19th, 2008 by gatordoug

Obama SWEARS he understands gun rights, but, as Hot Air points out he sat on the board of the Joyce Foundation, which gave $3 million to groups seeking handgun bans

Seven of the grants were awarded when Obama served on the board. Where did the money go?

  • $2.5 million went to the Violence Policy Center, which has campaigned for a national ban on all handguns.
  • $20,000 paid to publish Every Handgun Is Aimed at You: The Case for Banning Handguns
  • $10,000 went to another gun-banning group, Handgun-Free America

Does anyone else see a pattern? If Obama doesn’t want to ban handguns, he certainly chose the wrong foundation to help run. Once again, his track record speaks in opposition to his blandishments towards the benighted and embittered gun owners that he wants to rescue through bigger federal government.

Obama is what we thought he was. A Marxist. And maybe the exposure of his true nature is deflating his numbers?

You government IS stoopit! post of the day

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 17th, 2008 by gatordoug

THIS! is the problem with big government sticking its nose where our Founders never intended!

The soldier is scheduled to return home in December, and his father says he is determined to make sure that when his son returns from his tour of duty, the dogs are waiting for him. Carroll already had three dogs of his own. With five dogs, the county said he had two dogs too many.

“If my son’s in Iraq, I can’t watch his dogs according to the county,” Carroll said.

The county says with five dogs Henry’s running a kennel, which he is not licensed to do. When  he asked the county to clarify the definition of a kennel, he says he got several different answers.

“I said, ‘I want  to see the law I’m breaking; show it to me.’”

He said a county official gave him an ordinance, which defines a kennel as any place with eight or more where dogs or cats are fed, sheltered and watered.”

But he says another county document sent to him defines a kennel as any premises where four or  more dogs are kept commercially or as pets.

Moron!

The major lesson of Virginia Tech appears to be that most subsequent legislative changes happen only in the locale of the incident — and even then only incrementally, in a very narrow way that applies to the specific shooting and not to the gun problem generally. “I’m very concerned that there is this level of acceptance — that these shootings are just going to happen no matter what,” says Thom Mannard, president of States United to Prevent Gun Violence. “What never really seems to occur is a real, thorough discussion on the fact that often the only common denominator in these tragedies is the use of guns. There is no other weapon that is legally available that can kill so many in such a short period of time. It’s amazing that more people don’t make that simple acknowledgment.”

20,000 gun laws did not stop this scumbag. BUT several school shooting have been stopped by armed citizens. HMMMM.

“Gun Rights Group” endorses Obama?

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 16th, 2008 by gatordoug

Let me ammend that headline! Gun CONTROL group posing as a gun rights group endorses Obama.

ABC has the story here

The good news, for Obama: the support of this gunowners’ rights group may help him overcome the controversy over his suggestion that small voters “cling to guns and religion” because they’re “bitter.”

The bad news?  Today was the anniversary of the deadly Virginia Tech massacre.

“Sen. Obama will be a strong voice an unabashed voice for America’s hunters and shooters and it is with great pleasure that we endorse his candidacy,” President of the Association Ray Schoenke said, citing Obama’s commitment to the traditions of gun ownership.

Confederate Yankee has the scoop!

Schoenke, a failed Democratic candidate for governor of Maryland, has donated thousands to Handgun Control, Inc, a virulent anti-gun organization that was the forerunner of Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence. He has donated tens of thousands more to anti-gun Democratic politicians including Ted Kennedy.

AHSA executive director Robert Ricker has testified as a paid witness against the gun industry and consults for several anti-gun groups, and John Rosenthal, President of the AHSA Foundation, is a former member of Sarah Brady’s Handgun Control, Inc, and is leader of Stop Handgun Violence, a Massachusetts anti-gun group that has contributed to that state’s intolerant anti-gun guns.

Latest stupid law-Visual Sexual Aggression?

Posted in Culture, Guns self-defense and liberty on April 14th, 2008 by gatordoug

Well intended? Surely! But then again so are zero-tolerance rules in our schools. This bill is far too broad, given our compete lack of common sense as a society. Ever stood in line at the grocery store and waved or smiled at a toddler in the cart in front of you? Ever watched kids play? Yeah, you VISUAL SEXUAL HARASSER YOU!

A bill that passed the House last month aims to strengthen the crime of visual sexual aggression against children, according to state Rep. Dawn Hill, D-York.Her involvement started when Ogunquit Police Lt. David Alexander was called to a local beach to deal with a man who appeared to be observing children entering the community bathrooms. Because the state statute prevents arrests for visual sexual aggression of a child in a public place, Alexander said he and his fellow officer could only ask the man to move along.“There was no violation of law that we could enforce. There was nothing we could charge him with,” Alexander said.He attended a talk with Hill a week later and brought the case to her attention. Hill pledged to do what she could, Alexander said, and the result was a change through the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee in the House, which made the law applicable in both private and public places….

Under the bill, if someone is arrested for viewing children in a public place, it would be a Class D felony if the child is between 12 to 14 years old and a Class C felony if the child is under 12, according to Alexander.

Hill said she believes the move was necessary to correct what she called a “loophole” in the state’s criminal law statutes.

Think such a law would work? Me neither! How about a law that puts child molesters in jail FOREVER!

Florida to allow citizens to carry guns to work in their cars

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 13th, 2008 by gatordoug

Very good bill! It would allow workers to have their gun in their car, and obviously, with them while driving to and from work.

There has been some opposition to this bill, based on private property rights of the employer. But, I remind you that the Second Ammendment states “the right of the people, to keep and BEAR arms, shall not be infringed” I think that settles it for me. Anyone disagree?

Philly’s gun grabbing mayor

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 12th, 2008 by gatordoug

The Mayor of Philadelphia seems to think strict gun control laws are a good thing. Constitution be damned, the Founders be damned, statistics be damned and citizens who want to exercise their most basic human right, that of self-defense be damned! Big surprise The Mayor’s name is Nutter, as in gun-grabbing nutter.

Mayor Nutter likened himself and City Council members yesterday to the band of rebels who formed this country as he signed five new gun-control laws that defy the state legislature and legal precedent.

“Almost 232 years ago, a group of concerned Americans took matters in their own hands and did what they needed to do by declaring that the time had come for a change,” Nutter said as he signed the bills in front of a table of confiscated weapons outside the police evidence room in City Hall.

Obviously this fool has never actually read about the founding of America, or the Founders views on guns.

The five laws - called everything from unconstitutional to criminal by critics - do the following:

Limit handgun purchases to one a month.

Require lost or stolen firearms to be reported to police within 24 hours.

Prohibit individuals under protection-from-abuse orders from possessing guns if ordered by the court.

Allow removal of firearms from “persons posing a risk of imminent personal injury” to themselves or others.

Outlaw the possession and sale of certain assault weapons.

Nutter said he would begin to enforce the laws immediately, with the exception of the one-gun-a-month requirement, which takes effect in six months.

The same old tired, failed gun control measures that have never done a damn thing to lessen crimes.

Canadian bloggers being sued for expressing opinions

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty, The scurge of PC on April 9th, 2008 by gatordoug

Michelle Malkin has the details. And a Canadoan blogger who is one of those being sued tells her story.

Richard “The Boy Named Sue” Warman has finally filed his statement of claim.

Canada’s busiest litigant, serial “human rights” complainant and — the guy Mark Steyn has called “Canada’s most sensitive man” — Richard Warman is now suing his most vocal critics — including me.

The suit names:

Ezra Levant (famous for his stirring YouTube video of his confrontation with the Canadian Human Rights tribunal after he published the “Mohammed Cartoons”)
FreeDominion.ca (Canada’s answer to FreeRepublic.com)
• Kate McMillan of SmallDeadAnimals.com
Jonathan Kay of the National Post daily newspaper and its in-house blog
• and me, Kathy Shaidle of FiveFeetOfFury.com

Richard Warman used to work for the notorious Human Rights Commission, which runs the “kangaroo courts” who’ve charged Mark Steyn with “flagrant Islamophobia.”

Richard Warman has brought almost half these cases single-handledly, getting websites he doesn’t like shut down, and making tens of thousands of tax free dollars in “compensation” out of web site owners who can’t afford to fight back or don’t even realize they can.

The province of British Columbia had to pass a special law to stop Richard Warman from suing libraries because they carried books he didn’t approve of.

Richard Warman also wants to ban international websites he doesn’t like from being seen by Canadians.

The folks named in his new law suit are the very bloggers who have been most outspoken in their criticism of Warman’s methods…

…We can only fight this man’s attempt to silence conservative opinion if we have international support: both moral and financial.

This lawsuit will cost me at least $30,000 to fight.

And fight it I will.

This will continue, and, one day arrive here in America. The Left is no friend of free speech, unless they approve of it!

Make NO mistake my friends our free speech IS under attack!

Pizza Hut punishes delivery driver for defending himself

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 3rd, 2008 by gatordoug

Another example of the WIMPIFICATION of America!

A Des Moines pizza driver who was suspended from his job after he shot an armed robber said today he has been overwhelmed by support from people who cheered what happened.

“But no one had contacted me directly about a job offer,” said James William Spiers III, 38, who was sent home by Pizza Hut managers after he fired multiple shots at a man who put a gun to his head Thursday and demanded money outside the Sutton Hill Apartments, 2100 S.E. King Ave.

Pizza Hut holds the right to do this, but, morally speaking, they could not be more wrong. This is another chapter in the demonization of self-defense that America is being assaulted by.

An honest man, doing his job, thwarts a violent criminal and his employer PUNISHES him? I am no fan of boycotts, BUT, no more Pizza Hut for me!

Obama is against self-defense!

The No Duh! story of the day

Barack Obama is embracing anti-gun policies in the run-up to a Democratic presidential debate scheduled on the one-year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings.

“I am not in favor of concealed weapons,” Obama told the Pittsburgh Tribune. “I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.”

So, he has adopted the rhetoric of the gun grabbers! Despite stats that show CC laws reduce violent crime, Obama wants to disarm the law-abiding and aid the thugs.

Hot Air points out that Obama has a history of not respecting Constitutional protections of self-defense.

Michelle Malkin thinks this is a mistake for the Democrats. And, I know she is right!

McCain campaigning without Secret Service protection?

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 3rd, 2008 by gatordoug

Hot Air has the low down

Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) may be the presumptive GOP nominee for president, but, by his own wishes, he is not being protected by the Secret Service.

“He has not requested protection,” Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan told a congressional subcommittee this morning. “We have no involvement at this point.”

In opting not to take the protection, McCain is following through on plans he outlined to reporters late last year on his Straight Talk Express campaign bus.

Members of the House Appropriations Homeland Security subcommittee were surprised by Sullivan’s revelation. Sullivan said his agency had been in contact with McCain’s staff. But a candidate has no legal requirement to take protection.

His choice in the end, but, I think it is a mistake. Like it or not, anyone running for president is a target.

New poll shows most Americans understand the Second Ammendment

Something tells me this jackass was NOT an NRA member! Gun + Oven =

A man has been charged with child endangerment and unlawful gun use after a gun that he apparently kept in the oven went off and wounded two children in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Anthony Smith, 24, was charged with two counts of endangering the life of a child and one count of unlawful use of a weapon, after the two boys, 4 and 12, were wounded when the gun went off as the oven was being heated.

The sister of the two boys was cooking at the stove at 3:55 p.m. Friday at a home in the 4800 block of South Racine Avenue, when she heard loud noises coming from it, police said. The sister heard the 4-year-old boy cry out and saw blood coming from his leg, and the older boy was hit in the head with flying debris.

Child rapists could face execution in Colorado

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on March 11th, 2008 by gatordoug

Denver Post

Colorado could put child rapists to death under a bill that won a Senate committee’s approval Monday and would put the state on par with just five others that allow the execution of such sex offenders.

Prosecutors could try for the death penalty in cases in which rape victims are 12 or younger, where DNA evidence is present and where the perpetrator has been previously convicted of a sex offense against a child.

The harsher sentences might run afoul of the Constitution — the U.S. Supreme Court will weigh in on the issue this year — and could discourage victims from reporting abuse by relatives, according to critics, who include victims’ rights advocates.

I would say it ought to apply to ALL rapists. At least make rape and child molestation crimes punishable by life sentences. Those monsters who commit these heinous acts are too dangerous to be trusted with freedom.

Daily Kos moron: No evidence women have it tougher under Islamic law

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty, The scurge of PC on March 9th, 2008 by gatordoug

The cluessness of Kossvile

In the United States, there’s now an almost universally held belief that most women in Islamic societies face wretched persecution and that Islam itself is wholly to blame. But there’s scant empirical evidence to support the claim — mostly, we’re treated to detailed reports of horrific abuses in theocratic states like Saudi Arabia and Iran, despite the fact that just six percent of the Muslim world live in those two countries. If you ask average Americans how they came to their beliefs about how badly women suffer in Islamic societies, most will reply that “everyone knows it.”

But I’ve seen no empirical data to suggest that an Islamic majority itself correlates with the subordination of women better than other co-variables like economic development, women’s ability to serve in government, a political culture that values the rule of law or access to higher education. In other words, you can use a comparison of women’s status in Saudi Arabia and Sweden to make an intellectually weak argument for Western superiority, but there’s little support for the notion that women living in “traditional” Islamic cultures enjoy a lower social status than those in orthodox Christian, Jewish or Hindu communities, to name a few examples. Think of the perfectly backwards Eastern Orthodox Church, the largest Christian communion in the world. Or consider the country where women may be brutalized more terribly than in any other, the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is 70 percent Christian and 10 percent Muslim. Or go to Utah, where tens of thousands of Mormon fundamentalists believe that women are literally the property of their fathers or husbands. Of course, Mormon fundamentalists are the exception that proves the endless benevolence and equality of the West, while whatever despicable caricature of justice perpetrated on a woman by the House of Saud is breathlessly recounted as emblematic of Islamic culture as a whole.

Comparing the “Muslim world” to the rest of the world poses an intellectual problem — how does one even look at the role of Islam in a society, specifically, rather than dozens of other variables that might influence women’s outcomes?

Yes folks, little Joshua IS that stupid.

Times Sqare bombing may be linked to Canadian border incident

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty, The scurge of PC, Uncategorized, War on Terror on March 8th, 2008 by gatordoug

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23510711/

Nearly a full day after the explosion in Times Square, law enforcement officials said they had no suspects. WNBC.com has learned NYPD, Homeland Security and FBI officials are now revisiting an incident that occurred along the Canadian border last month, concerned there might be a possible connection to the Times Square explosion.

Four men trying to cross the border attempted to flee the checkpoint as Canadian officials tried to question them, investigators said.

Two of the men got away, officials said. The men left behind a backpack with photos of various New York City locations including Times Square, according to sources speaking on condition of anonymity. One of the photos included the military recruitment center, officials said. As a precaution, NYPD outreach officers last month went to various New York City businesses, including the Times Square military recruitment center, to investigate if there had been any specific threats. No threat information was known at the time, a law enforcement source said.

Hmmm, the plot thickens. I still keep going back to the fact that it was a recruiting center that was targeted. Michelle Malkin has an interesting and sobering look at the escalation in Leftist outrage towards recruiters http://michellemalkin.com…war-on-military-recruiters/

Terror attack in Jerusalem

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty, Uncategorized, War on Terror on March 6th, 2008 by gatordoug

Tons of info to look at here. This was another evil attack on the Israeli people. One leading question is WHO did it?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,335730,00.html

A gunman entered the library of a rabbinical seminary and opened fire on a crowded nighttime study session Thursday, killing eight people and wounding nine before he was slain, police and rescue workers said. It was the first major militant attack in Jerusalem in more than four years.

Earlier reports said there were two gunmen and quoted a death toll of at least 10.

Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip praised the operation in a statement, and thousands of Palestinians took to the streets of Gaza to celebrate.

Palestinians celebrating such barbarity should not surprise anyone should it. One interesting note in the story is that apparently a student shot the terrorist, ending the carnage. Yehuda Meshi Zahav, head of the Zaka rescue service, entered the library after the attack. “The whole building looked like a slaughterhouse. The floor was covered in blood. The students were in class at the time of the attack,” he said. “The floors are littered with holy books covered in blood.”

Witnesses described a terrifying scene during the shooting, with students jumping out windows to escape.

One of the students, Yitzhak Dadon, said he shot the attacker twice in the head. “I laid on the roof of the study hall, cocked my gun and waited for him. He came out of the library spraying automatic fire,” he said.

Hmmm, armed students saving lives by shooting back? America should take note.

UPDATE 8 arrested in attack on Seminary http://www.cnn.com…eref=rss_topstories

Israeli police have arrested eight people during an investigation into Thursday’s deadly attack at a Jewish seminary in Jerusalem, spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said Saturday.

Rosenfeld would not elaborate on the nature of the investigation or how the eight might be connected to the gunman or the shooting.

Of course the terrorists have been linked to Hezbollah

The attack was planned and conceived by the Free Men of Galilee, an operation with purported ties to Hezbollah, the Shiite militant group in Lebanon, sources in Gaza said.

The information was provided to CNN amid news reports that Hamas, the Palestinian movement that runs Gaza, claimed responsibility for the attack.

But the sources said that Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza are not claiming responsibility for the attack and that the Hamas military wing says it had nothing to do with it.
