Kids get a lesson in tolerance

DOGS!

primary school in Amsterdam wished to provide its pupils with an understanding for other cultures. But during a visit to a mosque, the children were told they were dogs.

With a view to developing understanding and respect for other cultures among children, primary school De Horizon regularly organises outings to various religious organisations. The chairman of the El Mouchidine mosque told the children from group 7 (aged 10) and their chaperones however that non-Muslims are dogs.

In a letter to the children’s parents, the school expresses its regret at the incident: “We are shocked that during the guided tour, the mosque’s chairman told the children and chaperoning parents that non believers were dogs. We consider this statement as unacceptable since we allow our children to partake in this project to develop respect for freedom of religious choice”.

In the meantime, the school’s management has addressed the mosque on the undesirable behaviour of the chairman. Both parties will say nothing further on the matter. “We will resolve the matter amongst ourselves and I have no inclination whatsoever to discuss the matter with the media”, as newspaper De Telegraaf quoted the school’s spokesperson Mariet ten Berge. “We have been to the mosque before and it always went well”.

Where is the ACLU when you need them?

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 9th, 2008 by gatordoug

Of, if a public school even remotely approaches mentioning anything that can be construed as Christian, then ACLU lawyers swarm in like locusts. But a Muslim public school in Minnesota? Not So Much!

TIZA has many characteristics that suggest a religious school. It shares the headquarters building of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, whose mission is “establishing Islam in Minnesota.” The building also houses a mosque. TIZA’s executive director, Asad Zaman, is a Muslim imam, or religious leader, and its sponsor is an organization called Islamic Relief.

Students pray daily, the cafeteria serves halal food - permissible under Islamic law — and “Islamic Studies” is offered at the end of the school day.

Hmmm, sounds fishy to me. Read on

Zaman maintains that TIZA is not a religious school. He declined, however, to allow me to visit the school to see for myself, “due to the hectic schedule for statewide testing.” But after I e-mailed him that the Minnesota Department of Education had told me that testing would not begin for several weeks, Zaman did not respond — even to urgent calls and e-mails seeking comment before my first column on TIZA.

Now, however, an eyewitness has stepped forward. Amanda Getz of Bloomington is a substitute teacher. She worked as a substitute in two fifth-grade classrooms at TIZA on Friday, March 14. Her experience suggests that school-sponsored religious activity plays an integral role at TIZA.

Arriving on a Friday, the Muslim holy day, she says she was told that the day’s schedule included a “school assembly” in the gym after lunch.

Before the assembly, she says she was told, her duties would include taking her fifth-grade students to the bathroom, four at a time, to perform “their ritual washing.”

Afterward, Getz said, “teachers led the kids into the gym, where a man dressed in white with a white cap, who had been at the school all day,” was preparing to lead prayer. Beside him, another man “was prostrating himself in prayer on a carpet as the students entered.”

“The prayer I saw was not voluntary,” Getz said. “The kids were corralled by adults and required to go to the assembly where prayer occurred.”

Again, where is the ACLU? Probably busy making sure a graduation ceremony features no child thanking Jesus.

Case in point!

But then in October, she got a letter from her neighbors. It said, “Dear Resident, immediately cease smoking in your apartment, unless and until you take adequate steps to properly ventilate your smoke out of your apartment such that none enters the common hallway.”

Huff couldn’t believe it. First she can’t smoke in her own restaurant, now she can’t smoke in her own apartment?

The complainants — Jonathan and Jenny Selbin — wouldn’t agree to a television interview, but they did file a lawsuit against Huff, saying she is “willfully, intentionally, recklessly and/or negligently endangering the health of plaintiffs and their 4-year-old son. … As evidenced by her refusal to address the grave danger posed to the health of a small child, despite repeated requests and warnings, defendant’s conduct is actuated by evil and/or reprehensible motives.”

Ah, smell the fanaticsm!

Your obligatory cross-dressing day at school causes outragetis post

Posted in Culture on April 8th, 2008 by gatordoug

Hypersensitivity from a Christian group? Or rightful anger at Leftist indoctrination of children. You make the call

An opposite gender dress-up day at an elementary school in Reedsburg raised the ire of a Wisconsin Christian radio group Friday morning, and the district was flooded with calls from outraged listeners.

Students in Pineview Elementary had been dressing in costume all week as part of Wacky Week, an annual tradition at the school. On Friday students had the option of attending school dressed as senior citizens or members of the opposite gender. After a local resident informed the Milwaukee-based Voice of Christian Youth (VCY) America Friday, the radio network interrupted its regular schedule at 10:30 a.m. for a special broadcast that aired on nine radio stations throughout Wisconsin decrying the dress-up day and accusing the school district of promoting alternative lifestyles.

“We believe it’s the wrong message to send to elementary students,” Jim Schneider, VCY America program director, said. “Our station is one that promotes traditional family values. It concerns us when a school district strikes at the heart and core of the Biblical values. To promote this to elementary school students is a great error.”

Climate change alarmists brainwashing our kids?

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 7th, 2008 by gatordoug

Gorezilla and his minions are less than honest? NO!

William Gray, the well-known Colorado State University hurricane forecaster, routinely uses the annual National Hurricane Conference as a platform to bash global warming. In a statement to Florida Today, Gray argued that the scientific consensus on global warming is bogus — and “a mild form of McCarthyism has developed toward those scientists who do not agree” that mankind is in danger.

“We are also brainwashing our children on the warming topic. We have no better example than Al Gore’s alarmists and inaccurate movie which is being shown in our schools and being hawked by warming activists with little or no meteorological-climate background,” Gray wrote.

Some scientists believe global warming will actually decrease — not increase — the number of hurricanes that form over the Atlantic Ocean each year. Last Friday, in the final session of the hurricane conference, a pair of climate experts said rising sea-surface temperatures in and near the Caribbean could strengthen vertical wind shear. Robust wind shear is the bane of hurricanes, as it tends to tear apart cyclones during their formative stages.

The Left, lacking in facts, has made a habit of indoctrination and brainwashing.

How about an Absolut Apology?

Well, the folks at Absolut seem to have re-thought their ad that was offensive to some.

My pesonal thought, they just were running a “creative” ad, which they are famous for, and realy did not mean to offend. But, they chose a very sensitive topic, and lots of folks, myself included, got fairly pissed.

Charlton Heston passes away

Posted in Culture on April 6th, 2008 by gatordoug

God bless him

Charlton Heston, the Oscar-winning actor who achieved stardom playing larger-than-life figures including Moses, Michelangelo and Andrew Jackson and went on to become an unapologetic gun advocate and darling of conservative causes, has died. He was 84.

Heston died Saturday at his Beverly Hills home, said family spokesman Bill Powers. In 2002, he had been diagnosed with symptoms similar to those of Alzheimer’s disease.

Six-year-old charged with sexual harassment

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on April 6th, 2008 by gatordoug

More politically correct zero-tolerance abuse of children

Randy Castro, 7, who likes recess and soccer, now has an alarming red flag in his school records. It started on the playground with a first grade classmate.

“I saw another kid like hitting her butt so I did it,” Castro said.

His Potomac View Elementary School then called the police and wrote him up as a sexual harasser. Woodbridge, Md. school officials described the incident as “Sexual Touching Against Student, Offensive,” in their report.

The basic problem with zero-tolerance is this, It is applied without an ounce of common sense!

This was a very simple thing, the teacher should have pulled the child aside, and explained why this was not acceptable behavior. No law enforcement, no charges, none of that was needed at all.

Of course this is a growing trend that amounts to child abuse. This insanity cannot be tolerated by parents.

According to the state’s Department of Education, 166 elementary students were suspended in Maryland last year for sexual harassment, including three preschoolers, 16 kindergartners and 22 first-graders.

In Virginia, 255 elementary students were suspended for offensive sexual touching last year as well.

Two years ago in Texas, a four-year-old was punished for sexual harassment after a teacher’s aide accused the pre-schooler of pressing his face into her breasts during a hug.

Punishing kids for being kids? God help us!

Bearded transsexual Thomas, whose daughter is due in three months, shocked the world when he revealed his bump.

But the one-time beauty queen named Tracy has vowed: “I’ll be the father and my wife Nancy will be the mother. The only thing different about me is that I can’t breast feed.

“But a lot of mothers don’t.”

Thomas, 34, began his sex change in his 20s, having his boobs removed and taking testosterone but keeping his female reproductive organs.

Obama’s new endorsement!

Posted in Culture, Politics on April 2nd, 2008 by gatordoug

Hanoi Jihad Jane is an Obamamaniac!

There were no formal ceremonies for the endorsement. In fact, the Obama campaign may just be learning about the actress’s approval now as word spreads like lit gunpowder via the Internet.

Fonda was eating out last night and exited the restaurant, ignoring as celebrities often do the assembled press contingent.

But a video camera was rolling as she approached the street and someone, perhaps just trying to get her to turn around for a picture, shouted out at her back, “Who are you going to vote for?”

There was a moment of silence. Then, the actress did turn around toward the cameras, paused and with a smile said simply, “Obama!” Then she got into a car and drove away.

Obama’s chickens leftist followers, comin’ home to roost!

TSA + Nipple Rings= Nipplegate?

Posted in Culture on March 30th, 2008 by gatordoug

BREAST ACHE!

A Texas woman who said she was forced to remove a nipple ring with pliers in order to board an airplane called Thursday for an apology by federal security agents and a civil rights investigation.

“I wouldn’t wish this experience upon anyone,” Mandi Hamlin said at a news conference. “My experience with TSA was a nightmare I had to endure. No one deserves to be treated this way.”

Hamlin, 37, said she was trying to board a flight from Lubbock to Dallas on Feb. 24 when she was scanned by a Transportation Security Administration agent after passing through a larger metal detector without problems.

OK, I admit it, I detest body piercings, they are ugly and barbaric, but COME ON TSA! Are you required by governmental rules to agree to NOT USE COMMON SENSE!

Shocker of the day. Latest anti-war film FLOPS!

Posted in Culture on March 29th, 2008 by gatordoug

When will the Left ever learn that their morally retarded views do not resonate with mainstream Americans? The answer, of course is NEVAH!!

#7 Stop-Loss opened to only $1.6 million Friday from just 1,291 plays and should eke out $4+M. Although the drama from MTV Films was the best-reviewed movie opening this weekend, Paramount wasn’t expecting much because no Iraq war-themed movie has yet to perform at the box office. “It’s not looking good,” a studio source told me before the weekend. “No one wants to see Iraq war movies. No matter what we put out there in terms of great cast or trailers, people were completely turned off. It’s a function of the marketplace not being ready to address this conflict in a dramatic way because the war itself is something that’s unresolved yet. It’s a shame because it’s a good movie that’s just ahead of its time.”

Ahead of its time? No, that is not why it failed. It failed as did the other leftist anti-military films, because Americans simply do not want to watch their heroes get slimed for 90 minutes!

New Liberal malady diagnosed! APOLOGITIS!

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on March 29th, 2008 by gatordoug

I was checking out one of the best blogs around, Hot Air, earlier, and found a post about apologizing amd America’s perverse obssession with it.

After checking out the story, it dawned on me that Americans are now suffering from a new disease. Apologitis, or the need to hear anyone that says anything even remotely offensive to anyone apologize for saying what they believe.

Personaly folks, if someone says something that offends me, no apology will change it, or change what they THINK. Now, instead of an apology, especially an obviously scripted and fake apology, let me debate them on it. Rubbing their noses in their ignorance or stupidity in a very public forum? Yes, that will make me feel better! A fake apology I can live without!

Apologitis is just another sign of how shallow Americans are becoming my friends. We do not need that, we need depth amd substance, not touchy feely hypersensitivity!

Slimeball cop-killer STILL guilty as Hell!

Yes, BUT,

A federal appeals court today refused to reinstate the death sentence of world-famous death row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal, but left intact his murder conviction in the 1981 shooting death of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruled that Abu-Jamal must be sentenced to life in prison or get a chance with a new Philadelphia jury, which would decide only whether he should get life in prison or be sentenced - again - to death.

The judges left intact his first-degree murder conviction, rejecting Abu-Jamal’s claim that he deserves an entirely new trial and a chance to prove his innocence.

Abu-Jamal, who has written books and given taped speeches from death row, was convicted in 1982 by a Philadelphia jury of killing Faulkner, who was shot to death near 13th and Locust Streets in the early morning hours of Dec. 9, 1981.

Ah, how the Left LOVES them some of this scumbag!

Hunky Jesus competition?

Posted in Culture on March 24th, 2008 by gatordoug

I am certainly no prude, and I am not a huge fan of the American family Association, or like-minded groups either. But this is disgusting

San Franciscans have flocked to Dolores Park in the city to compete in, or watch, what has become an Easter Sunday tradition - the “Hunky Jesus” competition.

Officiated by a gay charity group known as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, which has been active in San Francisco since 1979, the contest pits costumed and usually scantily clad men against each other for the distinction of being declared the most attractive Jesus.

Catholics have labelled the annual pageant blasphemous, considering that previous entrants have included “old school Jesus”, “surfer Jesus” and “zombie Jesus”, an irreverent take on the Easter message of Christ rising from the dead.

Classless!

FINALLY! A worthwhile protest in Berkeley

Posted in Culture on March 23rd, 2008 by gatordoug

Sanity comes to Berkeley

Berkeley hosted a decidedly different kind of protest Saturday when about 400 flag-waving, leather-clad, pro-troops bikers roared into town to show their support for an often besieged Marine recruiting center in the city.

“I’m here because I support my Marines,” said Steve Bosshard, a retired San Francisco police officer who came from Santa Rosa. “I don’t like what Berkeley’s done. They don’t realize the effect it has on the troops.”

The center was criticized by the Berkeley City Council and is often the target of protests.

Saturday’s demonstrators, most of whom were veterans or families of those currently in the military, said they were protesting the council’s decision in February to waive the amplified-sound permit fees and provide reserved parking in front of the Marines’ office for Code Pink, an anti-war group that stages protests at the center.

There are yachts, and they are OK, but the GIGAYACHT ! That is the dream ticket!

In decades gone by, a 180-foot personal superyacht was enough to establish yourself as a seriously wealthy owner—but over the last ten years, in the spirit of excess, the megayacht emerged, at over 220 feet long. And when the ostentatious mega-rich start competing, enormous isn’t nearly big enough. Over the last ten years, several yachts have been built over the 320-foot mark.

WallyIsland isn’t the first of this new breed of luxury gigayachts—nor is it the largest. Paul Allen’s Octopus, for example is a 410-foot monster built by Lürssen, and the Sheikh of Dubai (where else?) currently owns the world’s largest luxury motoryacht at a staggering 525 feet long. A 405-footer by Frank Mulder was even auctioned off recently on eBay. WallyIsland, though, does have some unique features.

New pastor of Obama’s church: Rev Wright was “lynched”

Posted in Culture, Race Pimping on March 23rd, 2008 by gatordoug

As I said in my latest column the bigotry and hate in the church is more important than Wright himself. So, here you go, the new pastor of  Obama’s Church of Perpetual Bitterness, had THIS to say on Easter Sunday.

Sunday’s sunrise sermon, delivered by Rev. Otis Moss III, was called “How to Handle a Public Lynching” and focused primarily on the media firestorm that has focused international attention on this Chicago ministry, which is the church attended by the Democratic presidential candidate.

Moss did not directly mention his spiritual mentor by name, but implied to the congregation at Trinity United Church of Christ that Wright, who has delivered sermons in which he likened the U.S. to the Ku Klux Klan and said it is damned for its state-sponsored terrorism, is facing the same challenges Jesus did.

“No one should start a ministry with lynching, no one should end their ministry with lynching. The lynching was national news. The RNN, the Roman News Network, was reporting it and NPR, National Publican Radio had it on the radio. The Jerusalem Post and the Palestine Times all wanted exclusives, they searched out the young ministers, showed up unannounced at their houses, tried to talk with their families, called up their friends, wanted to get a quote on how do you feel about the lynching?” he said.

Ah, the infamous “L” word resurrected again

Man in Phillipines crucified, for the 22nd time

Posted in Culture on March 22nd, 2008 by gatordoug

Either he is extremely faithful, or way over the edge?

Devout Roman Catholic Ruben Enaje donned a crown of thorns before being nailed to a cross.

The 47-year-old decorator was the first of 19 men in this northern Philippines village of San Pedro Cutud who underwent the bloody Easter crucifixion ritual, an extreme form of penance by devotees wanting to thank God for answering their prayers.

He missed the ritual once - eight years ago - when he was struck down with stomach ulcers and his wife was taken ill.

“It is painful and difficult. But I will continue doing this for as long as I can,” the father-of-four said.

“This is my pledge to God.”

Shocker! Anti-war nuts accuse Berkeley PD of abusive tactics

Posted in Culture, The scurge of PC on March 15th, 2008 by gatordoug

I call bullshit!

A series of protesters took the mic. One lamented “belligerent riot squads who use batons and arrests … to silence political speech.” Another claimed that “the Berkeley Police Department has committed acts of violence that … create a climate of fear.” Another described “a very marked escalation of hostility and physical violence on the part of the Berkeley Police Department” against people protesting “this disastrous, immoral, criminal war.”

Somehow, call me crazy here, but somehow I just do not buy this. Maybe it is the fact that these whoners will tell any lie as long as it supports their cause.

A Code Pink member described her group as “risking our lives” by protesting, because “there are people willing to kill to get what they want.”

Another claimed that the cops have done “everything they could to facilitate a right-wing hatefest.”

In tears, one man said that as he carried a World Can’t Wait sign at the February 12 rally in Civic Center Park, “the police … shoved me into the mud. One of the cops took my sign and stomped it into several pieces, inches from my head. … They stomped me hard in the chest,” he claimed amid gasps from the audience, which applauded after he described an emergency-room visit and a chest-wall-contusion diagnosis.

Sounds to me like this was nothing but a staged event for these miscreants to spew their propoganda.
