Geraldo Rivera begs US not to arrest criminals!

Posted in Border INsecurity! on May 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

Hey, Geraldo, a quick question for you. Ever heard of a sovereign nation? Rule of law?

Obviously not!

Driven by the most savage talk radio and cable news anti-immigrant propaganda campaign in our nation’s history, the Department of Homeland Security has unleashed an unprecedented crackdown on undocumented workers. In an effort not seen since the panic unleashed by the Great Depression, federal law enforcement has been targeting technically illegal workers who have been long tolerated in industries like meat packing, poultry processing and agriculture. In the terror created, fruit trees are being cut down and fields lie fallow, for want of traditional workers. Many hundreds of otherwise law abiding, hard working, family men and women have been arrested in recent weeks under circumstances more appropriate to operations targeting al Qaeda. With noise and fury, these heavily armed and armored SWAT teams from ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, are surrounding a particular plant, then with great quasi-military flourish sweeping in to arrest and handcuff the ‘aliens’, bring them en masse to a hearing, conviction and sentencing, all pending deportation. These completely overdone costume dramas are targeting cowering economic refugees just trying to feed their families. They would be ridiculed as overkill and posturing by any real soldier or cop.

And aside from every humanitarian concern, they violate ICE’s own 2007 guidelines regarding the need to consult local social services and church officials, and negotiate a less violent surrender before raids of this magnitude are contemplated; given the tremendously unsettling effect the invasions have on the migrants, their millions of often U.S. citizen spouses and children, and the larger Latino community, which is the nation’s largest minority and the victims of twice the hate crime this year from last.

The obscene spectacle is as pathetic and unnecessary as the raid on the Michael Bianco leather goods factory in New Bedford Massachusetts that separated nursing mothers from their children in March 2007, or the Pilgrims Pride Poultry plant raids this year incredibly staged during the pope’s recent visit. Bizarrely, those raids were happening at the same moment the pope and president were emphasizing the need for immigration reform in a face-to-face Rose Garden meeting. And why the heavy hand? These are non-violent people. Their crime is almost invariably that they are here, their presence, not that they did anything wrong while they were here. Even minimal physical resistance to authority is rare. The federal government could have as easily sent in a couple of civilian garbed immigration officials and handed out summonses to report to a certain gathering spot to await detention and deportation following a hearing. The vast majority of those honest workers would have shown up without the pathetic show and without the terror gratuitously inflicted on these poor working families.

Geraldo might be a great pitch man for Kleenex. Good grief!

McAmnesty returns!

Tell me again how John McCain GETS the message on immigration?  Is this how McCain defines “getting it”?

Republican presidential candidate John McCain joined Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in calling today for comprehensive immigration reform, including guest worker visas to bring employees to California’s Silicon Valley and the state’s vast agricultural fields. The two men brought up the issue at McCain’s prompting during a global competitiveness roundtable featuring California technology executives and entrepreneurs.

Asked by Silicon Valley panelists on what he would do to grant more visa for skilled technology workers, McCain broadly advocated the comprehensive immigration reform plan he had backed with Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy in Congress.

 There he goes again!

Where in the world is Juan Hernandez?

Posted in Border INsecurity! on May 8th, 2008 by gatordoug

Well, some may be scratching their heads asking WHO is Juan Hernandez? Some background first. He is a vital part of Team McCain serving as the Hispanic Outreach Advisor. Sounds OK, but it is Juan’s stance on American sovereignty that disturbs many. So, now that you know WHO he is, head to Michelle Malkin’s site to find out WHERE he is

After that, check out a video of old Juan in rare form. After watching ask yourself if Senator “Straight Talk” is sincrere about that border crackdown rhetoric?

Michelle Malkin’s top ten reasons why McCain should repudiate La Raza

Posted in Border INsecurity! on May 6th, 2008 by gatordoug

I just had to link this and I hope Mr. McCain reads this  too. No matter how anyone feels personally about how to fix our immigration issues, everyone ought to reject the National Council of La Raza, a racist group in my opinion.

As you read this list, pay very close attention  to numbers 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7. All the reasons are excellent but these, to me, really get to the essence of why La Raza ought to be shuned by all.

Wacky Leftist sign of the day!

Michelle Malkin brings us the “militant” side of  the May Day pro-illegal rallies, and perhaps, the most inane sign I have ever seen.

Her vagina is angry? WAY too much info lady!

“Virtual” fence not a virtual failure

Posted in Border INsecurity! on April 24th, 2008 by gatordoug

No, it is a total failure, so much so in fact, it is being 86ed!

The government is scrapping a $20 million prototype of its highly touted “virtual fence” on the Arizona-Mexico border because the system is failing to adequately alert border patrol agents to illegal crossings, officials said.

The move comes just two months after Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced his approval of the fence built by the Boeing Co. The fence consists of nine electronic surveillance towers along a 28-mile section of border southwest of Tucson.

Boeing is to replace the so-called Project 28 prototype with a series of towers equipped with communications systems, cameras and radar capability, officials said.

Less than a week after Chertoff accepted Project 28 on February 22, the Government Accountability Office told Congress that it “did not fully meet user needs, and the project’s design will not be used as the basis for future” developments.

Hate to say I knew it but….

GREAT NEWS! ACLU helping Mexican government ensure “rights” of illegals.

Posted in Border INsecurity! on April 23rd, 2008 by gatordoug

Oh goody! Another assault on America’s sovereignty

The San Diego chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is now working with directly with Mexico’s Human Rights Commission, a quasi-governmental group that’s independent from but funded by the Mexican government. The ACLU is a very strong supporter of illegal immigration but in the past the only known link between them and the Mexican government was indirect. Any future news report on the ACLU’s efforts regarding immigration should mention their new direct link, and if it doesn’t please contact the news source’s editor. They should also be asked about this at public meetings or whereever else they discuss these issuesThis also follows Mexican president Felipe Calderon stating that they’re going to use U.S. non-profits to push their agenda inside the U.S.

Here is part of their release

In a historic agreement to pursue joint strategies to protect the human rights of migrants moving across the Mexico-United States border, the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties and the Comision Nacional de Derechos Humanos today signed a document declaring common goals and principles to address the serious human rights issues.

The Memorandum of Agreement between the two organizations charges the parties jointly to explore legal actions to challenge Operation Gatekeeper and other programs that have contributed to migrant deaths, and to educate a transnational audience about the issue of human rights tragedies at the border. More than $30 billion dollars have been spent on Gatekeeper since its inception, but the program has done little to prevent illegal entries—it has simply shifted them to the mountains and deserts east of San Diego, where migrants face much harsher conditions in remote, environmentally hostile areas.

The agreement was developed in reaction to the continually mounting death toll of now more than 5,000 migrants along the border, as well as the challenge of advocating on these issues effectively from just one side of the border. With respect to abuses by federal law enforcement agencies, for example, U.S. federal agencies have acted with immunity and a complete lack of transparency.

If those damned Americans would just open their borders all would be peachy I guess. Another sign that the ACLU is a direct threat to our Constitution and that the Mexican government is not our friend!

ABC blames US Constitution for Mexican drug cartel violence!

Posted in Border INsecurity!, Guns self-defense and liberty on April 22nd, 2008 by gatordoug

Damn that James Madison

U.S. gun stores and gun shows are the source of more than 90 percent of the weapons being used by Mexico’s ruthless drug cartels, according to U.S. and Mexican law enforcement officials.

“It’s a war going on in Mexico, and these types of firearms are the weapons of war for them,” said Bill Newell, the special agent in charge of the Phoenix field division of the ATF, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which has primary law enforcement jurisdiction for investigating gun trafficking to Mexico.

“It’s virtually impossible to buy a firearm in Mexico as a private citizen, so this country is where they come,” said Newell.

But U.S. efforts to stop the smuggling of tens of thousands of guns to Mexico, including high-powered assault weapons, have been hampered by lenient American gun laws and the Bush administration’s failure to give priority to anti-gun smuggling efforts, officials tell ABC News for a report Tuesday on ABC News’ “World News With Charles Gibson.”

So the drug cartels are not responsible? It is all AMERICA’S fault again? Like when those who cross our borders die it is AMERICA’S fault!

How about this? How about we blame the CRIMINALS! Funny these problems with cartels do not happen here like in Mexico. Hmmm Can you say INEPT police? Corruption? OH, one quick question, IF Mexico is so concerned why do they not help secure the border? Hmmm? Maybe because of $$$$$$$$$$?
