Video-David Gergen to media: Move along nothing to see here!

Posted in Politics on April 28th, 2008 by gatordoug

Boy, oh boy! Gergen is really shilling for Wright here. In fairness he urges Wright to go away too. But he is dead wrong about this not being an issue of relevance. Character DOES matter!

This is truly sickening two CNN airheads swooning over this racist. Making excuses for him, good grief! Of course when the media saves a place at the table for Rev. Al “Pimp My Hair” Sharpton, and Je$$e Jack$on is anyone surprised they look away from the truth about Wright?

Of course Martin a CNN contributor, as a history of spinning Wright’s hate speech

As to the caims of taking the Wright 9-11 sermon “out of context”? Please help yourself read the whole thing!

Your obligatory UN scandal post

Posted in International scene on April 28th, 2008 by gatordoug

Well, a tad more than a mere scandal. In fact FAR MORE!

- Pakistani peacekeepers in the eastern town of Mongbwalu were involved in the illegal trade in gold with the FNI militia, providing them with weapons to guard the perimeter of the mines

- Indian peacekeepers operating around the town of Goma had direct dealings with the militia responsible for the Rwandan genocide, now living in eastern DR Congo

- The Indians traded gold, bought drugs from the militias and flew a UN helicopter into the Virunga National Park, where they exchanged ammunition for ivory

The UN looked into the allegations concerning the Pakistani troops in 2007.

It concluded that one officer had been responsible for dealing in gold - allowing traders to use UN aircraft to fly into the town, putting them up at the UN base and taking them around the town.

But the UN decided that “in the absence of corroborative evidence” its investigators “could not substantiate the allegation” that Pakistani peacekeepers supplied weapons or ammunition to the militia.

Ah, so the UN investigated itself and found no corroborative evidence? Right!

MSM finally gets around to reporting progress in anti al-Qaeda PR

Posted in MEDIA BIAS!, War on Terror on April 28th, 2008 by gatordoug

Only four days after the story broke

The top White House terrorism expert thinks some gains are being made in the worldwide public relations battle against al-Qaeda, as the administration and its overseas allies press efforts to show that Osama bin Laden’s network is killing Muslim civilians rather than defending its interests.“More and more Muslim and Arab populations — [including] clerics and scholars — are questioning the value of al-Qaeda’s program,” Juan Carlos Zarate, deputy assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser for combating terrorism, said Wednesday at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

The efforts he described are in line with plans that Michael E. Leiter, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, discussed in February before the same organization. Leiter, who is responsible for strategic communications planning in the fight against terrorism, said the goal is “to prevent the next generation of terrorists from emerging.”

One approach, he said, is “to show that it is al-Qaeda, not the West, that is truly at war with Islam.”

Last week, Zarate echoed that theme. He said al-Qaeda “should be revealed as themselves being at war with Muslims, especially those who do not believe as they do or subscribe to the al-Qaeda agenda.”

Zarate cited an Egyptian Islamic group, which includes former jihadist leaders, that recently published a series of books “highly critical of jihadists and al-Qaeda.” He did not say who promoted or paid for the books, but in undertaking this program, Zarate said, “credible voices, outside of the U.S. government,” had to carry the messages.

McCain goes after Rev. Wright!

Posted in Politics on April 28th, 2008 by gatordoug

Hey! Obama himself said it was OK. So, go for it Senator

Up to now, Mr. McCain had largely avoided talking about the incendiary views of Mr. Wright, saying he wanted to run a “respectful” campaign. He has even called on the North Carolina Republican Party to pull an advertisement that focuses on Mr. Wright.

But Mr. McCain took a different approach at a news conference here when he criticized Mr. Wright for, as the senator paraphrased him, “comparing the United States Marine Corps with Roman legionnaires who were responsible for the death of our Savior, I mean being involved in that” and for “saying that Al Qaeda and the American flag were the same flags.”

“So I can understand, I can understand why people are upset about this,” said Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president. “I can understand why Americans, when viewing these kinds of comments, are angry and upset.”

Mr. McCain said that he did not believe that Mr. Obama, Democrat of Illinois, shared those views and that he was still against the advertisement in North Carolina. But he suggested that Mr. Obama had made the subject fair play by declaring in an interview shown over the weekend on “Fox News Sunday” that questions about Mr. Wright were “a legitimate political issue.”

Creeping Sharia

Posted in War on Terror on April 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

CHILLING!

Islam divides the world into two parts. The part governed by sharia, or Islamic law, is called the Dar al-Islam, or House of Submission. Everything else is the Dar al-Harb, or House of War, so called because it will take war—holy war, jihad—to bring it into the House of Submission. Over the centuries, this jihad has taken a variety of forms. Two centuries ago, for instance, Muslim pirates from North Africa captured ships and enslaved their crews, leading the U.S. to fight the Barbary Wars of 1801–05 and 1815. In recent decades, the jihadists’ weapon of choice has usually been the terrorist’s bomb; the use of planes as missiles on 9/11 was a variant of this method.

What has not been widely recognized is that the Ayatollah Khomeini’s 1989 fatwa against Satanic Verses author Salman Rushdie introduced a new kind of jihad. Instead of assaulting Western ships or buildings, Khomeini took aim at a fundamental Western freedom: freedom of speech. In recent years, other Islamists have joined this crusade, seeking to undermine Western societies’ basic liberties and extend sharia within those societies.

The cultural jihadists have enjoyed disturbing success. Two events in particular—the 2004 assassination in Amsterdam of Theo van Gogh in retaliation for his film about Islam’s oppression of women, and the global wave of riots, murders, and vandalism that followed a Danish newspaper’s 2005 publication of cartoons satirizing Mohammed—have had a massive ripple effect throughout the West. Motivated variously, and doubtless sometimes simultaneously, by fear, misguided sympathy, and multicultural ideology—which teaches us to belittle our freedoms and to genuflect to non-Western cultures, however repressive—people at every level of Western society, but especially elites, have allowed concerns about what fundamentalist Muslims will feel, think, or do to influence their actions and expressions. These Westerners have begun, in other words, to internalize the strictures of sharia, and thus implicitly to accept the deferential status of dhimmis—infidels living in Muslim societies.

Call it a cultural surrender. The House of War is slowly—or not so slowly, in Europe’s case—being absorbed into the House of Submission.

Never surrender, never submit! God above made us free, and let us resolve to never revoke His gift.

Obama changes his story on attending “provocative” Wright sermons again.

Posted in Politics on April 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

Make up your mind already!

ABC News’ Tahman Bradley reports: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has admitted, in the past, attending church when Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his former pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, has made controversial comments, but he has never explained what he heard.

Until now.

Obama, in an interview broadcast on “Fox News Sunday,” said he’s been on hand for worship services that included “provocative” messages delivered by Wright that have touched on race and issues plaguing the black community.

“He will talk about the failure of fathers to look after their children in ways that, sometimes, people might be taken aback by. He can use street vernacular in his sermons in ways that people wouldn’t expect to hear,” Obama said.

Obama continued, “He has certainly preached in the past, when I was there, about the history of race in this country in very blunt terms, talking about slavery and talking about Jim Crow. The problem -– and I’ve pointed this out in my speech in Philadelphia -– was, where often times he would error, I think, is in only cataloging the bad of America and not doing enough to lift up the good. And that’s probably where he and I have the biggest difference.”

Careful to point out that he does not endorse all of Wright’s sermons or the way in which they were delivered, Obama said, “I go to church not to worship a pastor but to worship God.” Obama also said his vision for the country is much more hopeful than some of the black elders who grew up in a more racially charged America.

First he denied ever hearing any of these “provocative” sermons in person. Then in his highly heralded speech on race, he admitted he had indeed heard some. Now, he says that SURE, SURE he was present during such sermons.

What is next Obama? Maybe you can spin this further by saying you would have left the church BUT, that darned sniper fire had you pinned down?

Obama says he will back Patraeus promotion

Posted in War on Terror on April 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

The Messiah wants to cut and run ASAP, BUT, he has high praise for the job General Patraeus has done in Iraq

“Yes,” Obama told “Fox News Sunday” when asked if, as a senator from Illinois, he would approve Petraeus. “I think Petraeus has done a good tactical job in Iraq.”Obama has said he would start pulling out more troops as soon as he became president.

“My hope is that Petraeus would reflect that wider view of our strategic interest,” he said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“I will listen to General Petraeus given the experience that he has accumulated over the last several years,” Obama said. “It would be stupid of me to ignore what he has to say.”

“It would be my job as commander in chief to set the mission, to make the strategic decisions in light of the problems that we’re having in Afghanistan, in light of the problems that we are having in Pakistan, the fact that al Qaeda is strengthening,” Obama said.

Hmmm, he thinks Patraeus has done a god job, but STILL wants to leave Iraq ASAP? An action Patraeus has warned against? Does this sound like sound judgement?

Video- McCain OK with mentioning Rev. Wright now

Posted in MEDIA BIAS!, Politics, Race Pimping, Uncategorized on April 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

Michelle Malkin has the video on her site. I, like Michelle am befuddled by McCain on this issue. He demanded the North Carolina GOP pull its ad on the issue, yet now he says it will be an issue after Obama says he thinks it is a legitimate issue?

This boils down to political strategy folks. McCain is trying to avoid being accused of the “R” word. So he is gambling that if Obama says Rev. Wright is an issue, then McCain will be allowed to bring it up without the accusations of racism from the media and Democrats.

Of course, the media and Democrats will still bring it up no matter what Obama or McCain say about it.

Al “Pimp My Hair” Sharpton back on the race-baiting tour

Posted in Race Pimping on April 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

When those New York’s cops were found not guilty, the race pimping count down was on. I knew it, you knew it, and Michelle Malkin has details

Hundreds of angry people marched through Harlem on Saturday after the Rev. Al Sharpton promised to “close this city down” to protest the acquittals of three police detectives in the 50-shot barrage that killed a groom on his wedding day and wounded two friends.

“We strategically know how to stop the city so people stand still and realize that you do not have the right to shoot down unarmed, innocent civilians,” Sharpton told an overflow crowd of several hundred people at his National Action Network office in the historically black Manhattan neighborhood. “This city is going to deal with the blood of Sean Bell.”

Sharpton was joined by the family of 23-year-old Sean Bell — a black man — and a friend of Bell who was wounded in the 2006 shooting outside a Queens strip club. Two of the three officers charged were also black.

The rally at Sharpton’s office was followed by a 20-block march down Malcolm X Boulevard and then across 125th Street, Harlem’s main business thoroughfare, where some bystanders yelled out “Kill the police!”

Also be sure to check out the other nuggets Michelle has on the race pimp supreme!

She asks the same question I have asked over and again. WHY, in the Hell does anyone give this bottom-feeding thug any credibility?

The Iraqi Army saves Basra

Posted in War on Terror on April 25th, 2008 by gatordoug

Hmmm, as you read this story understand its signifigance. Basra is living in freedom, no more Shia militias oppressing the people there, and focus on WHO freed that city. The Iraqi Army did!

Young women are daring to wear jeans, soldiers listen to pop music on their mobile phones and bands are performing at wedding parties again.

All across Iraq’s second city life is improving, a month after Iraqi troops began a surprise crackdown on the black-clad gangs who were allowed to flourish under the British military. The gunmen’s reign had enforced a strict set of religious codes.

Yet after three years of being terrified of kidnap, rape and murder – a fate that befell scores of other women – Nadyia Ahmed, 22, is among those enjoying a sense of normality, happy for the first time to attend her science course at Basra University. “I now have the university life that I heard of at high school before the war and always dreamt about,” she told The Times. “It was a nightmare because of these militiamen. I only attended class three days a week but now I look forward to going every day.”

She also no longer has to wear a headscarf. Under the strict Islamic rules imposed by the militias, women had to cover their hair, could not wear jeans or bright clothes and were strictly forbidden from sitting next to male colleagues on pain of death.

Biofuels-A failure of Leftist climate change panic

Posted in The scurge of PC on April 25th, 2008 by gatordoug

In order to “fix” a problem that Might not even be real the climate alarmists pushed biofuels like Ethanol on us. And as a result food prices are soaring because we are, Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey puts it puts it we are feeding cars instead of people.

What makes this even more absurd is ethanol itself. It burns cleaner, but has significant problems as a transportation fuel. It has only two-thirds the potential energy of gasoline, which means more of it has to be used to get the same mileage. Ethanol has to be shipped by truck as it cannot be pumped through a pipeline, so much more energy has to get expended just to bring it to market. In order to use more than just a small amount in a mixture, car engines have to be designed differently to use it, which means more energy and resources have to go into producing the vehicles.

Every fill of the tank with ethanol uses the same amount of corn a child would eat in a year, and let’s not even talk about the amount of potable water used to grow the corn in the first place. Given the above, which is the better use of the corn?

If we produce ethanol from waste — such as with switchgrass, which shows promise — then no ethical problem would exist, although certainly the efficiency issues would remain. Until then, we should end the push to turn food into fuel, driven by the global-climate-change hysteria and pandering to the agricultural sector. Feed people ahead of cars. Is that really such a difficult concept?

Difficult? NO! But, the folks pushing the climate panic button don’t care about that. Hell, if some peple starve that might even be OK with them. Just listen to how they talk about overpopulation.

Good news-Three Stooges to save nomination process

Posted in Politics on April 25th, 2008 by gatordoug

Moe, Larry and Curly? Well, no, not THOSE Stooges, THESE Stooges!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that he may have to push undecided superdelegates to make their decisions in the Democratic presidential race, if the contest stretches into June.

Reid said he would consider writing a joint letter with Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) demanding that superdelegates make their endorsements public.

“The three of us, we may write a joint letter [to superdelegates],” said Reid. “We might do individual letters. We are in contact with each other.”

Reid’s comments suggest that the party’s top three officials are contemplating a high-level intervention if the primary season concludes in June without a nominee and many superdelegates still undecided.

Ah, seems a bit of concern is behind this move. Maube the Democratic leadership fears a split down the road? I doubt that will ever happen, but it is fun to see them imploding

Speaker “Face Lift” misquotes the Bible on Earth Day!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 24th, 2008 by gatordoug

Oh that Nancy Pelosi! Playing fast and loose with the truth is one thing, but playing around with The WORD of God?

The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, “To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.” On this Earth Day, and every day, let us honor the earth and our future generations with a commitment to fight climate change.

Trouble is there is no such verse in the Bible.

A week ago, I noted that the Sunnis that had left Nouri al-Maliki’s government last year in a huff had decided to return. A week later, the New York Times has reported on it, making it true. The Tawafiq has recognized the efforts of Baghdad to release low-level detainees and disarm the Shi’ite militias, two of their major complaints, although the Times just can’t seem to get over the Basra-defeat meme that has been so obviously disproven

Scumbag robs teen having seizure

Posted in Guns self-defense and liberty on April 24th, 2008 by gatordoug

Damn! This happened in downtown Dallas, late Tuesday night. THIS type of thing is why we need VERY harsh penalties for unwarranted violent assaults.

Dallas police said a man robbed a teenager who was suffering a seizure.

Frank White, 33, took a wallet from 18-year-old Mississippi State University ROTC student Andrew Bow.

The incident happened at a downtown Greyhound bus station just before midnight on Tuesday, investigators said.

Surveillance video, which captured the robbery, shows a man approaching Bow, who was wearing desert fatigues and flailing on the sidewalk. The man then pulls a wallet from the Bow’s back pocket.

Hot Air has the video. Warning this will make you want to take a large stick to this scumbag’s head.

Obama says he doesn’t take oil money but…….

Posted in Politics on April 24th, 2008 by gatordoug

How bad are things with the Messiah? Even the LA Times has exposed his latest lie. When the Liberal LA Times starts nailing Obama, you KNOW it is not a good sign!

Sen. Barack Obama continued accepting donations from oil company executives and employees last month even as he aired ads in which he stated he took no oil company money, his campaign finance reports show.

Obama has taken at least $263,000 from oil company executives, family members and employees since entering the presidential race last year, including $46,000 last month. At least $140,000 has come in chunks of between $1,000 and $2,300, the maximum permitted under federal law.

Texas oil executive Robert L. Cavnar of Milagro Exploration and his wife, Gracie, have helped the Illinois Democrat raise at least another $50,000 by helping host a fundraiser earlier in the campaign.

Other oil industry donors have included Sinclair Oil President Ross Matthews of Texas and John B. Hess, chairman of Hess Corp., a New York-based oil producer and retailer with operations worldwide. Hess, who has given to other presidential candidates, including Sen. John McCain, gave $2,300 to Obama last year, as did his wife, Susan. Hess gave $14,000 to Obama’s Senate run in 2003. The oil executives did not return phone calls.

Obama’s Hope? and Change? He HOPES you do not catch him lying, and he CHANGES his story to try and cover his Truth Deficit Disorder!
