Dumbass of the day!

A lifeguard for a kiddy pool? Yep! DUMBASS OF THE DAY!

For nearly a quarter of a century, Lourdes Maxwell has celebrated the arrival of summer by putting a paddling pool in the garden.

This year, however, her two grandchildren and the children of her neighbours may have to find another way to cool off in the heat.

Miss Maxwell’s local council has decided that the pool - which is only 2ft deep - needs a lifeguard.

The 47-year-old divorced mother of three has also been told she must have insurance before she can inflate the toy outside her house in Portsmouth.

Maliki is Da Man!

Posted in War on Terror on May 28th, 2008 by gatordoug

At least it is really starting to look that way. Great news for Iraq and America, heartache for Moonbats!

In Baghdad’s Sadr City today, once again, street vendors line the sidewalk with colorful shirts and shoes. Vegetable markets, once again, have fresh limes and produce. Family stores, once again, are back in business.

And in the local Ibn al Balad hospital, no more war wounds.

“There are no injured people in this hospital,” says Jabber Shanshal, an Iraqi nurse, drawing a stark contrast with the situation more than two months ago, when heavy fighting took place in the Shiite suburb of almost three million people.

The residents of Sadr City have been longtime followers of the firebrand Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr and his 60,000-strong Mahdi militia. He and his fighters staunchly oppose the U.S. military presence in Iraq and have frequently targeted U.S. troops across the country.

But all that has changed. Last week, al Sadr’s representatives and the main Shiite political party here signed a cease-fire agreement.

One wonders how long Obama can be embittered, clinging to his “withdraw now” mantras.

Secretary of State Kerry?

Posted in Politics on May 28th, 2008 by gatordoug

I guess his official title would be Secretary of State John F^$#ing Kerry

Kerry aides insist he’s not angling for the job and point to his long involvement in foreign affairs. It started with his famous testimony as a 27-year-old veteran questioning the Vietnam War before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. It continues today, at age 64, as the No. 3 Democrat on the same panel.

But envisioning him in the post would hardly be a stretch given Obama’s chances at securing the Democratic nomination, a general election shaping up as a “change” campaign and Kerry’s relationship with the Illinois senator.

Kerry would likely face competition from Sen. Joseph R. Biden of Delaware, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee; Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut, a former Peace Corps volunteer who also sits on the panel, and former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota, a top Obama adviser.

Biden might be funnier as secretary. Imaging the foot-in-mouths from him.

Thank God! Green Bombs!!!!!

Mother Earth and Gorezilla are smiling!

New explosives could be more powerful and safer to handle than TNT and other conventional explosives and would also be more environmentally friendly. TNT, RDX and other explosives commonly used in military and industrial applications often generate toxic gases upon detonation that pollute the environment. Moreover, the explosives themselves are toxic and can find their way into the environment due to incomplete detonation and as unexploded ordnance. They are also extremely dangerous to handle, as they are highly sensitive to physical shock, such as hard impacts and electric sparks. To make safer, more environmentally friendly explosives, scientists in Germany turned to a recently explored class of materials called tetrazoles. These derive most of their explosive energy from nitrogen instead of carbon as TNT and others do.

Hug a tree then hug a bomb you freaky hippy!

Geraldo Rivera begs US not to arrest criminals!

Posted in Border INsecurity! on May 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

Hey, Geraldo, a quick question for you. Ever heard of a sovereign nation? Rule of law?

Obviously not!

Driven by the most savage talk radio and cable news anti-immigrant propaganda campaign in our nation’s history, the Department of Homeland Security has unleashed an unprecedented crackdown on undocumented workers. In an effort not seen since the panic unleashed by the Great Depression, federal law enforcement has been targeting technically illegal workers who have been long tolerated in industries like meat packing, poultry processing and agriculture. In the terror created, fruit trees are being cut down and fields lie fallow, for want of traditional workers. Many hundreds of otherwise law abiding, hard working, family men and women have been arrested in recent weeks under circumstances more appropriate to operations targeting al Qaeda. With noise and fury, these heavily armed and armored SWAT teams from ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, are surrounding a particular plant, then with great quasi-military flourish sweeping in to arrest and handcuff the ‘aliens’, bring them en masse to a hearing, conviction and sentencing, all pending deportation. These completely overdone costume dramas are targeting cowering economic refugees just trying to feed their families. They would be ridiculed as overkill and posturing by any real soldier or cop.

And aside from every humanitarian concern, they violate ICE’s own 2007 guidelines regarding the need to consult local social services and church officials, and negotiate a less violent surrender before raids of this magnitude are contemplated; given the tremendously unsettling effect the invasions have on the migrants, their millions of often U.S. citizen spouses and children, and the larger Latino community, which is the nation’s largest minority and the victims of twice the hate crime this year from last.

The obscene spectacle is as pathetic and unnecessary as the raid on the Michael Bianco leather goods factory in New Bedford Massachusetts that separated nursing mothers from their children in March 2007, or the Pilgrims Pride Poultry plant raids this year incredibly staged during the pope’s recent visit. Bizarrely, those raids were happening at the same moment the pope and president were emphasizing the need for immigration reform in a face-to-face Rose Garden meeting. And why the heavy hand? These are non-violent people. Their crime is almost invariably that they are here, their presence, not that they did anything wrong while they were here. Even minimal physical resistance to authority is rare. The federal government could have as easily sent in a couple of civilian garbed immigration officials and handed out summonses to report to a certain gathering spot to await detention and deportation following a hearing. The vast majority of those honest workers would have shown up without the pathetic show and without the terror gratuitously inflicted on these poor working families.

Geraldo might be a great pitch man for Kleenex. Good grief!

McCain challenges Obama to visit Iraq, Obama runs away

Posted in Politics, War on Terror on May 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

GUTLESS!

John McCain’s proposal is nothing more than a political stunt, and we don’t need any more ‘Mission Accomplished’ banners or walks through Baghdad markets to know that Iraq’s leaders have not made the political progress that was the stated purpose of the surge. The American people don’t want any more false promises of progress, they deserve a real debate about a war that has overstretched our military, and cost us thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars without making us safer.

Yet again one of life’s great truths is proven! Challenge a Leftist to back up their rhetoric with action or facts, and they will run like a cheap pair of hose!

The ultimate choice?

A Montana woman whose newborn son was found dead in a trash bin near the University of Southern California campus in 2005, pleaded no contest to child endangerment Tuesday after four attempts to charge her with murder were dismissed.

Holly Ashcraft, 23, entered the plea in Superior Court to the charge and a special allegation that the endangerment resulted in death.

Under a plea agreement, she will be sentenced June 27 to time already served - about 30 days of jail time and about 695 days of electronic monitoring. She also will be placed on five years’ probation, said

Iraqis fed up with Sadrists!

Posted in War on Terror on May 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

More good news from Iraq, via an unusual source, the LA Slimes

Four summers ago, when militiamen loyal to hard-line Shiite Muslim cleric Muqtada Sadr were battling U.S. forces in the holy city of Najaf, Mohammed Lami was among them.“I had faith. I believed in something,” Lami said of his days hoisting a gun for Sadr’s Mahdi Army militia. “Now, I will never fight with them.”Lami is no fan of U.S. troops, but after fleeing Baghdad’s Sadr City district with his family last month, when militiamen arrived on his street to plant a bomb, he is no fan of the Mahdi Army either. Nor are many others living in Sadr City, the 32-year-old said. Weeks of fighting between militiamen and Iraqi and U.S. forces, with residents caught in the middle, has chipped away at the Sadr movement’s grass-roots popularity, Lami said.

More than 1,000 people have died in Sadr City since fighting erupted in late March, and hospital and police officials say most have been civilians. As the violence continues, public tolerance for the Mahdi Army, and by association the Sadr movement, seems to be shifting toward the same sort of resentment once reserved for U.S. and Iraqi forces.

“People are fed up with them because of their extremism and the problems they are causing,” said Rafid Majid, a merchant in central Baghdad. Like many others interviewed across the capital, he said the good deeds the group performs no longer were enough to make up for the hardships endured by ordinary Iraqis who just want to go to work and keep their families safe.

Of course the Slimes makes sure to plant some negative commentary disguised as news, but give them credit for at least starting to report positive news!

Update! More good news! Violence in Iraq hits four-year low! From the LA Times again

The U.S. military said Sunday that the number of attacks by militants in the last week dropped to a level not seen in Iraq since March 2004.About 300 violent incidents were recorded in the seven-day period that ended Friday, down from a weekly high of nearly 1,600 in mid-June last year, according to a chart provided by the military.

Carbon offsets = money pits!

Posted in Climate change mania on May 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

Sweetness and Light has the story

Billions of pounds are being wasted in paying industries in developing countries to reduce climate change emissions, according to two analyses of the UN’s carbon offsetting programme.

Leading academics and watchdog groups allege that the UN’s main offset fund is being routinely abused by chemical, wind, gas and hydro companies who are claiming emission reduction credits for projects that should not qualify. The result is that no genuine pollution cuts are being made, undermining assurances by the UK government and others that carbon markets are dramatically reducing greenhouse gases, the researchers say. The criticism centres on the UN’s clean development mechanism (CDM), an international system established by the Kyoto process that allows rich countries to meet emissions targets by funding clean energy projects in developing nations.

Credits from the project are being bought by European companies and governments who are unable to meet their carbon reduction targets.

The market for CDM credits is growing fast. At present it is worth nearly $20bn a year, but this is expected to grow to over $100bn within four years. More than 1,000 projects have so far been approved, and 2,000 more are making their way through the process.

The racism of the Left raises its head again

Posted in Race Pimping, The scurge of PC on May 27th, 2008 by gatordoug

Michelle Malkin has the scoop via the NY Slimes. The same Liberals who support Gay adoption, which I really have no problem with, are concerned over transracial adoptions.

Minority children in foster care are being ill-served by a federal law that plays down race and culture in adoptions, a report released on Tuesday said. The report, based on an examination of the law’s impact over a decade, said that minority children adopted into white households face special challenges and that white parents need preparation and training for what might lie ahead.

But it found that social workers and state agencies fear litigation and stiff penalties under the law for even discussing race with adopting couples. As a result, families often do not get the counseling they need. It also found that states have ignored an aspect of the law that requires diligent recruitment of black parents.

The report recommends that the law — the Multiethnic Placement Act, which covers agencies receiving federal dollars and promotes a color-blind approach — be amended to permit agencies to consider race and culture as one of many factors when selecting parents for children from foster care.

To me the biggest concern is getting these kids into loving families. The best choice being a married Heterosexual couple. But Color is meaningless frankly. Liberals tend to worry themselves sick over it, but I tend to believe in a color-blind society.

Great news, the all-caring Communist government in China, you know the one that forces women to have abortions, sets a strict one child policy for families, and severely restricts basic human rights, has decided to allow parents who lost a child in the recent earthquakes to “replace” them!

Chinese officials said Monday that the country’s one-child policy exempts families with a child killed, severely injured or disabled in the country’s devastating earthquake. Those families can obtain a certificate to have another child, the Chengdu Population and Family Planning Committee in the capital of hard-hit Sichuan province said.

With so many shattered families asking questions, the Chengdu committee is clarifying existing one-child policy guidelines, said a committee official surnamed Wang.

Heartache! Obama not Marxist enough for Castro

Posted in International scene on May 26th, 2008 by gatordoug

Apparently Castro thinks his nations troubles are less the fault of the failure of Comunism, than America’s evil doing. According to El Swino, Cunbans will starve if Obama does not lift the Cubam embargo.

Fidel Castro criticized Sen. Barack Obama on Monday, writing that the Democratic presidential hopeful’s plan to maintain Washington’s trade embargo against Cuba will cause hunger and suffering on the island.

“Obama’s speech can be translated as a formula for hunger for the country,” Castro wrote in a column published by government-run newspapers, referring to remarks Obama made before the influential Cuban American National Foundation in Miami last week.

He complained that Obama’s description of Cuba as “undemocratic” and “lacking in respect for liberty and human rights” was the same argument previous U.S. administrations “have used to justify their crimes against our homeland.”

The answer was yes. It was a rule meant to ensure that the graduates looked like ladies.

But style mavens and etiquette experts agree pantyhose in May in Florida are a no-no.
